226 pages of comments, and somewhere between 10-15 comments in support: http://minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/public/@cped/documents/webcontent/wcmsp-219617.pdf This thing needs to die. Can we please all look at page 63 where it says that during the parking lot survey there were 80 & 86 AVAILABLE...

This project must be finishing up soon. They have poured much of the concrete for the curbs and sidewalks around the exterior.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I've had a few close calls with turning traffic when coming off the cycle tracks to pass through intersections. I reflexively look over my shoulder before all intersections to check for turning cars but I'm concerned that these might be giving less experienced cyclists a false sense of security.

Re: Hi-Lake - Minnehaha Mall (Target/Cub) - Downtown Longfellow
Same here, I have mixed feelings on this one. Almost anything is better than what's there now. Adding the tree islands to the parking lot will make it a little less hostile to life. However, since no structured parking is being included with the building it limits any future development of the lot. ...

Re: LynLake Municipal Lot Redevelopment
The Lake Street B Line BRT should help improve access to Lyn-Lake. It would be nice to have more bike friendly street designs of Lyndale and Lake around this intersection too. All of those driving lanes just get traffic moving too fast to be safe for anyone not in a car.

The lot on this site is going to be used to stage some vehicles and equipment related to the Final Four over the next week and a half or so.

Re: TMBR - 100 3rd Ave N
It's still cause for celebration that with the 2040 plan Minneapolis has done away with parking minimums. Are we ready to impose parking maximums? It would be nice to be there but the transit infrastructure of the region needs to improve before that's more realistic.

Re: L&H Station - Hennepin County - Minneapolis Public Schools site
I believe phase 2 of this project passed through the Planning Commission yesterday. http://www.ci.minneapolis.mn.us/www/groups/public/@cped/documents/webcontent/wcmsp-217524.pdf The final 3 residential buildings and the public plaza are all included in phase 2. Last week fencing went up around the o...

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan
Fun article, yes, but the 2040 plan mostly addresses off street parking requirements. I guess there could be more demand for residential parking as more triplex density is added in neighborhoods but I'm not sure that the winter restrictions really portray what the realized 2040 plan would be like si...

Re: University of Minnesota - General Topics & Development Map
If I remember correctly the group that built the Double Tree hotel on Huron were about to break ground on this site but at the last minute they struck a deal with the UMN to swap the land for some of the land the current hotel is located. The block was cleared at least partially for the hotel. Ultim...

Re: Hi-Lake - Minnehaha Mall (Target, etc.) - Downtown Longfellow
I came across some good news for the Hi-Lake intersection last night. Evidently a public art installment is coming in October. "What will emerge in the fall is a series of large-scale monarch butterflies on both sides of the sidewalk on E. Lake St. at the Hi-Lake intersection. A combination of ...

Re: L&H Station - Hennepin County - Minneapolis Public Schools site
It certainly seems that things are lining up for phase 2 of this project to be underway next year. MPS will be out of the existing building by late November and the first residents are scheduled to move into the new residential building December 1st. According to an article in the most recent Corcor...

Re: L&H Station - Hennepin County - Minneapolis Public Schools site
MPS has to start paying rent at the old ABE building I believe in November so they are incentivized to be out of there by this fall. The old building does need to be demolished and the whole area will be regraded down to near street level for the next phase to get started. Phase 2 is supposed to inc...

Re: L&H Station - Hennepin County - Minneapolis Public Schools site
I was just looking at the plan for subsequent phases on the site and there's eventually going to be 3 more 6 story buildings and 1 at 4 stories. That's going to be a lot of housing within a block of the LRT station. I was also just at Target the other day and paused for a moment in the parking lot t...

Re: L&H Station - Hennepin County - Minneapolis Public Schools site
It will have 123 total dwelling units consisting of 36 studios, 69 1-bedrooms, and 18 2-bedrooms.
How many apartments are in the first phase? I am sure its somewhere up thread, but if someone knows off hand that would be cool.
