Noticed that the interior dimensions for the 14th floor are 5 feet wider than the 9-13th floor, but the GSF for both floors are the same. Very odd- assume just a CAD typo. Overall, very impressive (honestly, quite shocking, but in a in a good way).

Ugly is subjective. I personally like them. They are quirky maybe, kind of like the airport carpet at pdx. I agree- I think the water motif is just fine. The biggest negative being that the white lettering doesn't read well on top of a white and blue back ground, plus the signs have faded in some l...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
I assume that HNA Group, the buyer of the Carlson Hotels division, would move the staff to 33 South Sixth since they own the building. Makes sense to fill their own building instead of leasing from someone else. http://www.costar.com/News/Article/HNA-Holding-Group-of-China-Acquires-33-South-Sixth-Mi...

It's possible that he was funding the project directly from his own financial reserves (and this would be consistent with stories that have circulated around here about Stanton just rolling the proceeds from one project into the next). With his death, even if there were a will in place, I could ima...

Re: Peavey Plaza
What's snarky is the constant battering of its construction after businesses chose to pay less for the project than originally intended. This forced the city to go with the lowest bid. By the way, it wasn't a personal attack. I know you're a good guy Mike. It was intended to give hell to people pos...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Riverfront - Mill Ruins Park - Waterworks
Closing the lock was never about the carp anyways. It has everything to do with redeveloping the "blighted" industrial riverfront north of the locks. That much was made clear if you attended any of the "re-imagine the riverfront" workshops in winter 2015. May be true, but the Fo...

My first reaction- it is very odd, like an awkward one liner that falls flat, but it is creative thinking for a very difficult component- which I support.

I'm unsure how to feel about the 348 households who are expected to update all of their documents to reflect the new name. With 12 to 18 months to do so, maybe the assumption is that there is enough turnover that not many will have to actually change. I have no idea about the typical length of tena...

Finance and Commerce article includes this line: Both Hines and JLL declined to name committed tenants, but Robertson said the building will have leases signed for 60 to 70 percent of the office space by the end of this year. Tenants will begin moving in early next year. http://finance-commerce.com/...

I always thought the smelter without the roof would make for an amazing outdoor dining patio. A few years back a buddy and I were out walking and it was open so we walked in to check it out. Very interesting space. Nothing too wildly exceptional, but I would be all for saving it (with the roof just ...
