Re: State transportation financing and tax reform
Slightly related, the MN House just rejected a bonding bill for this year. Never say never, but it looks highly unlikely that there will be a bonding bill (then again, it would have been unusual to have a bonding bill in an odd-numbered year; presumably there will be a bonding bill next year). Of re...

Re: Rampton Apartments (201 2nd Ave SE)
I just noticed that it's in an Industrial Living overlay district. Without getting into too much detail, these districts are "...established to encourage the rehabilitation and reuse of existing industrial structures and to provide for limited residential and retail uses in the I1 and I2 Indust...

Re: Rampton Apartments (201 2nd Ave SE)
The parking lot across 2nd Ave is owned by General Mills and it's zoned I1, light industrial.

Any updates on the open house? Was it just an exhibit of their proposed layout, or was there a forum for offering thoughts on the proposals?

Looks like Portland Ave disappeared. We can't have another interruption in the grid in this part of Downtown.

Re: Vikings Stadium
Kelm-Helgen also says the design will reflect the hard-fought negotiations over the stadium’s financing. She says Minnesotans shouldn’t expect the kind of multi-million dollar upgrades the Xcel Energy Center or Target Field got from their teams as the facilites were being built. "Hard-fought&q...

Re: Ward 3
Looks like Hofstede is digging herself a bit of a hole. She went on Facebook and accused Frey of slandering her campaign (she says he's accused her of discouraging people from attending the convention), and now she's been deleting comments that are critical of her accusation: http://blogs.citypages....

Re: Ward 3
Another interesting (and encouraging) Ward Convention on Saturday. Nevertheless, as has been mentioned, Hofstede might still have a few tricks up her sleeves. I keep hearing murmurings about the anti-incumbent sentiment we've seen at a few conventions is due to the Vikings Stadium vote. Honestly, th...
