Re: MCAD
There's a typo on there, it should read 2726 and 2728 Stevens Avenue, not Colfax Avenue. They get it right on page 2.

Re: Arterial Transit Corridor Study ("rapid bus")
As soon as we elect a councilmember who cares passionately about improving transit between Uptown and Downtown. Lisa Bender has specifically stated that she will be an advocate for Hennepin. If you live in Ward 10, I urge you to join several other UrbanMSP'ers in supporting her campaign by participa...

Re: Arterial Transit Corridor Study ("rapid bus")
I just skimmed the addendum to the aBRT study, where the Chicago BRT line was expanded to included the entire Route 5 Chicago-Fremont corridor and Penn Ave BRT was added (both of these things happened in response to the Bottineau alignment decision). http://www.metrotransit.org/Data/Sites/1/media/pd...

Met Coucil has amended the 2013-16 Transpo Improvement Program (TIP) to include: $8.8 million for limited stop transit service on Chicago and Portland avenues in Minneapolis and Richfield, and American Blvd. in Bloomington $7.5 million for limited stop transit service in St. Paul and Maplewood I'm ...

Hennepin & Lyndale Bottleneck Project
3/2014 Update: Project website http://www.hennepinlyndaleproject.com/index.html If you didn't know, the Hennepin-Lyndale bottleneck atop the Lowry Tunnel used to be known as The Virginia Triangle . Much has been written about it on this forum as well as on Streets.mn Read through the comments on the...

Mark Andrew sounds like a gayer RT Rybak, but I generally liked what he had to say. I thought it was a 3-way tie between Andrew, Hodges, and Schiff. Samuels and Cherryhomes are complete jokes.

Re: Five15 On the Park - (1515 5th St S)
Unbelievable. The "green space" is a ragged broken glass filled lot. Don't these folks know Currie Park is across the street? This vacant lot (Five15 on the Park) is private property anyways. This appeal should have no standing and I'm fairly confident the Council will deny it. It would be...

The east-of-the-river portion of the work might get underway in 2013, but Hennepin County's website clearly states that the 4th St entrance ramp project won't begin until 2014.

Re: Transit News and Happenings
I'm sure you can find tons of examples on crosstown routes 2, 21, 23, 46, and 515 where they stop at two consecutive short-side blocks. The standard is every other short-side block, or ~660', but there are far too many abberations where it winds up stopping at two in a row. On of my old pet peeves w...

Re: Transit News and Happenings
Are you talking about the NB 35W entrance from the 3rd/4th St trench, between the Dome and West Bank Station? I'm guessing we discussed that in the 35W thread or CCLRT, but that's a Hennepin County project rather than MNDOT, and has been pushed to 2014: http://www.hennepin.us/portal/site/HennepinUS/...

Let's pretend for a moment that Dan Patch is a remote possibility and Orange Line BRT isn't "concrete poured over its coffin" as one poster suggested. For what it's worth, there was actually a bill brought up in the MN Legislature this session to repeal prohibition of saying the words &quo...

Re: Transit News and Happenings
The bus stop on westbound Lake at Nicollet (Kmart driveway) has FINALLY been eliminated. The dilapidated 3rd-party shelter is still in place, with a multitude of those lovely "Buses Don't Stop Here" signs. We'll see how long it takes Minneapolis/CBS Outdoor to actually remove it. Of course...

Re: North Loop Salvation Army
So this proposed new building does not contain a retail Salvation Army store as the current one does? The store seems like the one aspect of this that could be an asset, rather than a further detriment to the Lind-Bohanon neighborhood.

Re: Why is St Paul so Sleepy?
It's all true. Besides being walled off by the river, railroad, and freeways, downtown Saint Paul is also ringed/blocked by huge public and quasi-public entities including the Xcel, Science Museum, History Center, Cathedral, hospitals, and soon the Saints stadium on the east end. While those things ...

As far as I know, nothing has been submitted to City staff yet, and nothing is scheduled for the upcoming Committee of the Whole meeting of the Planning Commission. Re: Uptown Restaurant News
I think the near simultaneous openings of Republic (not at all douchey) and Bar Louie (full on Cowboy Slims douchey) had everything to do with this. There just isn't a market for a low-to-mid range douchey bar in Uptown.
This is a great space and I expect something will replace it soon.

Re: North Loop Salvation Army
Salvation Army has been working on relocating and cashing out on this nice piece of real estate for a while. A year ago or so, I remember they were looking at a site in Northeast, but that ended up not going working out. However, this site is right up against the elevated I-94 ramps and ugly surface...

Anything is artificially "nearby" at 60MPH on the freeway. Actually nearby is a different thing entirely.

Re: The Walkway (1312 West Lake Street)
Buying and selling used CDs and DVDs is not a long-term business. People buy music and movies online now, and the people that don't buy online are dying off. Vinyl and books could stick around as a viable business for a while longer. I believe vinyl records actually outsold CDs in 2012, or for the f...
