Re: Hopkins - General Topics
Yeah I rode it yesterday as well and the only thing I can add is that the trail feels lower then it used to be, iirc it used to be level or even a bit higher then the TCWR tracks but now not so much. Do wished they picked something besides the chain-link fence, if they keep it it'll kind of feel lik...

Re: Freight Rail News and Happenings
Just a thought how many railroads in the state are gonna be effected by the potential strike on Friday?
I think there's 20 companies in MN, but I haven't really heard/looked if the unions are angry at them along with the class Is

Anyone want to put money on the replacement bus service lasting longer than the strike if it happens.

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
I think you're barking up the wrong tree. Blame the Met Council and Minneapolis for assuming that St. Louis Park and the railroad would go along with their crappy reroute plan. Also Minneapolis kept claiming St. Louis Park agreed to the reroute, but they couldn't provide an official document backin...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
Kenilworth was a mistake. Kenilworth without freight rail is not a bad route. We should be emphasizing speed in our trunk light rail lines. (Which is why Broadway section of Blue line should be grade separated. But when the freight line wasn't going to be relocated that should have been enough to t...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I'm sure its not just me who's noticed more ebikes on the trails recently (as well as a few e scooters still rolling around) so I wonder if it might be worthwhile soon to start letting people dock/charge their personal bikes at the nice ride stations or invest in some for public use. I can see it be...

Re: Northern Lights Express
Really old news but there was a presentation about the NLX back in May by the High Speed Rail Alliance https://youtu.be/s-rwy8FLBCs Does anyone know if the house bill that prohibited planning made any progress from around the same time? Because from what I gather from the video planning was already ...

Re: Public Bathrooms
The thought I had the other day while I was driving through southern MN on I-35 was how much outrage there would be if the rest stops, taxpayer funded public bathrooms that are well lit, monitored, and cleaned, were removed. For some reason this level of service is okay for auto travelers but not c...

Re: Transit Crime
I wonder if anyone can pinpoint the turning point when the public perception of transit crime became so abysmal. I kinda put it at the shutdowns since the amount of people on the bus/trains pre COVID discouraged some people from doing what ever they wanted, but I'm starting to think if we get back t...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
I had something happen similarly recently too. I was taking the orange line and it was 15-20 minuets behind schedule for whatever reason and halfway through someone starts berating the driver for being late and wanted them to call the driver for another route to do something because they would miss ...

Re: MSP Airport
I think the intent is people living in Eau Claire will get on a plane and transfer in MSP en route to sunny destinations, not people living in Eau Claire will come in to watch the game when the Packers are playing. Seems likely. Also suspect they wanted some money from a Essential Air Service contr...

Re: Fantasy maps
I'd be fine if only for the wider sidewalks. I took the Orange line yesterday with my bike just to see how hard it would been to get to Normandale if it opened when I was still going and biking on 98th street between the two still sucks and is only marginally better then biking on france north of 84...

the bridge under 169 for the 9 mile creek trail is done, asphalt is still somewhat new so they haven't painted any stripes yet but its still ridable.

As someone who was never SSC, never heard about it till recently, and only just hearing about this guy, I find his antics a weird mix of sad yet somewhat entertaining.

Re: Local politics, shenanigans
Wish more reporting on the suburban city situations had a bit more reporting because it does seem like only when things are embarrassingly out of control in a suburb does it rise to the attention of our media. For instance, Hopkins where I live, voted out both the incumbent mayor and council person...

Re: Embarrassing Confessions of Urbanists
Please tell me I'm not the only one here guilty of driving somewhere just to go biking. Granted I'm not as bad as some mountain bikers I know who will drive almost every weekend to hit a trail and I usually only do this if the trail head is at least 30 miles away, but there is one trail places that ...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
I'm pretty sure its next to impossible to stop graffiti on the trail, heck I noticed some new ones on the N cedar lake trail a while ago on a abandoned BNSF switcher(?) and on the trail itself outside the fish guys. Of course we can't stop all graffiti, but in very visible places that a lot of peop...
