Re: Minneapolis Riverfront
I can't find the link to that student project a few years ago that had a couple dozen very aspirational projects for the riverfront. It had a tunnel behind the falls for people to walk through. Anyone still have that link? I know what you're talking about but can't find it either… There were also i...

Re: Grocery Stores
I've been to Kwik Trips all over the southwest burbs. I agree—they're great. Definitely my favorite gas station store. They've got a great selection and they have store-made pizzas and donuts which are delicious and fairly priced. I used to stop at one on the way home from school and get glazed donu...

That was a seriously phenomenal (and disgusting) read. Thanks, Nick!

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
I know I'm late to the party, but could someone just give a quick summary of why this is a bad project? I honestly don't know. I actually think it looks quite good, as far as these apartment complexes go.

Re: Target Field Station
Swap the LRT tracks and 4th St and add a platform across from the intersection of 4th and Norm McGrew Pl. 99% of the people getting on or off at that point would be there for Vikings games. The entire north side of the stadium up to the tracks could be a pedestrian zone. Wow this makes so much sens...

It will also be the point where the Bottineau and Southwest lines will come together in the future. And I think there might be plans to better connect the Northstar platform and the Ceder Lake bike trail…?

Re: Twin Cities' National and Global Image
Does anyone else find it curious/amusing that we seem to be offended at not having terrible congestion? I mean; I totally understand—no traffic means no people, and people in cities are a good thing. Traffic indicates vitality. But it seems we're at that turning point where we're realizing that [eve...

Not 100% sure where to put this; the study didn't actually include MSP, but still interesting/relevant to us, I think.

Re: The Marshall - (515 14th Avenue Southeast)
I walked by today and wondered this exact same thing. Looks ridiculous. Anyone have an idea?Notice the cement base for the street lights on 14th. Does anybody know why they stick so far out of the ground? The light has to rest at least two and a half feet above the surface.

Re: Pillsbury "A" Mill Redevelopment
Does this development include all 3 buildings? (The "A" building, the silos and head house, and the one in the middle) I had thought it was just the "A" building on the left, but I see work being done on all three.

Re: Target Field Station
It also provides pretty decent shade. Very true. But it's still just really disappointing that it offers no protection from rain. It would be relatively simple to cover. I was there for the Green Line opening and it's just silly that everyone got rained on while going from the little shelters to th...

Re: Rumors!
I work downtown and take the bus in almost everyday. Today of all days I was sitting next to this fellow who was looking at emails. I believe he works in the industry. One of the emails appeared to concern a proposal on the TCF site that would top 60 stories. Has anyone else seen anything about thi...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
Here's what I think: 1.) It's just more fun to ride the train. This mostly stems from it being a more rare experience, I think (Everyone's ridden a bus, but a train? Cool!), and from it being seen as a more "modern" system. 2.) Trains are so much less confusing, in a number of ways. Firstl...

Re: The Rail - (815 14th Avenue Southeast)
The rail yard is located along the long side of the building not shown in the photo. There are units with windows overlooking the tracks, not sure if there will be balconies on that side.
