Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)

I was at a networking event here tonight. Quite a view from the upper floors. Apparently it's about 25% leased now. Also, the elevators broke down, which was exciting.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Well, I don't disagree, but the city actually has the ability to redesign the street it owns. Not so much the privately owned buildings.

As a resident, you surely know that Uptown is everything south of 94 and between 35W and the lakes.

Re: Rumors!

Well, war crimes are despicable, anything on an Internet forum might be a level or two below that. I told him in a private message to not post his entire stream of consciousness on the forum, because if you remember, he did that for about two months. For what it's worth (and I said this in the mess...

Re: Alatus St. Anthony Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site)

Wait, I thought the whole point was that they were going to use the existing ramp and not have to build additional parking.

Re: RBC Plaza / Gaviidae II renovation

Given that the city had to twist Centerpoint's arm to even get them to put in the required streetfront retail, I doubt there's going to be retail inside the building as well. I would expect a Centerpoint entrance in the building, though maybe not on both floors.

Re: Rumors!

Eh, I don't find it weird to not use a work email for a forum like this. I certainly don't. Yahoo is a little strange, for Ryan at least, but June is supposed to be 70, no? That demographic is what's keeping Yahoo going.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

I'd be all about a DSW downtown, actually. But, yeah, unless there was a rumor I missed that it was going to be a shoe retailer, it seems a weird thing to call out.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

That's my guess. I'm guessing/hoping that they just move across the street. There's a couple open retail bays in both Gaviidae wings.

No different info, but Finance & Commerce has an article as well, with a nice picture of the wrong corner of City Center.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Strib article updated with a bunch more info: Confirmed our deductions about the layout. Baja Sol and Leann Chin are moving within City Center, Au Bon Pain and Greek Grill are leaving. Shorenstein is close to a deal with a mystery tenant for the other big space on the ground level. It isn't shoes. T...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Seems reasonable. They clearly had at least $500MM more than they needed in the 2014-2015 budgets.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Think about it, do we really want our skyway levels or (god forbid) our street level buildings taken up by dark, inward facing, single-use food courts?
Not at all. Bright, airy food courts like 330 2nd Ave's, though, are just fine.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Well, sure, but downtown's still full of suburban chains, e.g. the Subway in basically every single building. Healthier, maybe, but not particularly unique. As far as food courts go, there's still one in 330 2nd Ave that was just renovated, but otherwise, yeah, the trend seems to be dedicated seating.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Anecdotal, of course, but three of my coworkers just left to go to Baja Sol, which from Marquette Plaza via the skyway requires walking past about half a dozen other Mexican-style restaurants of varying quality. Leann Chin gets similar traffic, from this department at least. Their customer bases are...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Hard to say. They are going to have to do a fair bit of remodeling to the space to make it into a 2-level store, though. They'll have to rip out the walls and kitchens on the skyway level, put in an elevator and/or escalators, and probably restrooms, I suppose. That'll take a few months at least.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Yeah, that whole corner is about 16k sqft total, so they're all gonna have to move. Unless Saks also got some of the 3rd floor or basement to get to 40k, but I doubt it. I wonder if Shorenstein could subdivide that big space by the hotel to get all of those restaurants new space on the skyway level?...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Sam Black posted a press release he got on Twitter: -Off Fifth store -40,000 square feet -Opening April 2016 Huh. The Strib article says it'll be 16,000 square feet. That's quite a discrepancy. Edit: Re twincitizen's post: Ah, maybe its 16,000 sq ft of the old Office Depot space, and also 24,000 mo...

I like it. Honestly, I'm generally a fan of weird-looking buildings. Could use some ground-floor entrances and windows, though.
