Re: Rampton Apartments (201 2nd Ave SE)
Super bizarre and rather unattractive. Maybe if they increased the height of the apartments to match the height of the ramp and wrapped the University side it would look somewhat decent. Looks to me like they're doing the cheapest solution they can to meet their requirement stated in the project sum...

Re: Nic on Fifth - (455 Nicollet Mall)
This is the first updated rendering most of us have seen of the upper and rear portions of the building since the height change and such. This rendering aside from the street presence which I think is wonderful (on Nicollet I wonder what 2nd will be like), is remarkably boring. A glass rectangle wi...

Re: Peavey Plaza reconstruction project
This is great news! Maybe it was posted in this thread already, but I didn't know that the original designer had been asked to make improvements to the park that would maintain its significance and help meet the city and orchestra halls requests. The Cultural Landscape Foundation (TCLF) and the Pres...

Re: Smaller Scale High Density Housing.
I was always disappointed by the lack of row houses or just higher density housing on small plots in Minneapolis. I don't know what all plays into why that is. Relatively low land values? Zoning ordinances? Plot and lot line issues? Parking like mentioned above? I think this issue is why I'm such a ...

Re: Mill City Quarter - (300 South 2nd Street)
The design of the larger building has merits, dig the rounded punched metal idea. Not going to talk about that ugly thing tacked on to the side on 3rd. My largest gripe is how long and repetitive this thing is. That's an issue I take with a lot of things going up in Minneapolis at the moment. While ...

Re: Downtown Hotel News
2. I, for one, would never ever want to put myself up at a hotel right on one of the busiest nightlife scenes in the USA, so I wonder about the prospects of this "boutique hotel" site. Maybe since the developer is from out of town they don't know what they're getting into, but since peopl...

Re: Vikings Stadium
Minus Ewing's proposal they're all pretty awesome. Populus' looks interesting, but it's difficult to get a solid idea without a 3d rendering. Glad that there weren't a bunch of Lucas Oil designs in there.
Anyone know how long it'll be before HKS comes back with a more finalized concept?

Re: The 155 - (155 University Avenue Southeast)
They must have taken their inspiration from the Residence Inn downtown.
