Re: 400 Marquette Avenue
Correct me if I'm wrong, but considering the plans for the Xcel building, the open space won't be 1/3 of a block or even 1/4 of a block. The Xcel building runs longer parallel to 4th and 5th street than it does Nicollet and Marquette. I think there will only be 1/3 of the half (1/6 total) left open...

Re: 400 Marquette Avenue
This parcel is on the same block as the Nic on Fifth and the proposed Xcel Energy building. Hopefully whoever develops this site can come up with something better than a bland residential tower or a nine-story, office building. Here is some info on this site: existing surface parking lot in Downtown...

Re: Plymouth Building apartments
Here is some info from the article: * Todd Phillips, managing partner of Minneapolis-based TruCore Realty, figures that the skyway-connected building is a perfect spot for apartments. * Phillips is floating a plan for 252 market-rate units in the Class B office building at 12 Sixth St. S., including...

Confused? Do you honestly think something better will be built near 222?

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
the closer this whole foods/apartment project gets to completion the less i like it. maybe it will be look better if anything ever happens on the barren wasteland that are the blocks surrouding the library. What? What's not to like? The project has a great design, a grocery store, and it's infill. ...

Re: 2024 Olympic Bid?
Here is a list of Minneapolis - St. Paul venues that could host at least one Summer Olympic event. Some venues would obviously have to be updated, but we clearly have the sports venue infrastructure. Vikings Stadium - Minneapolis 65,000, expandable to 72,000 TCF Stadium - Minneapolis 50,805, expanda...

Re: Downtown Office Market
US Bank came out of the recession very strong, due to not taking as many risks as the Big 4. They've made a bunch of smaller acquisitions in recent years as well. They are now solidly the #5 bank in the country, but WAAAY smaller than any of the Big 4. If US Bank continues to grow and closes that g...

Re: Downtown Office Market
They said they were NOT going to build anything new -- at least, that's what I saw in the Star Tribune article. This is going to be a space absorber, and that's a VERY GOOD THING if you think about how much Class B space is going to flood the market in a couple months/years. You are right; probably...

I almost forgot about this thread. Here are some positive news for the Twin Cities area. Re: Downtown Office Market
According to the Business Journal, TCF Bank is now looking for 100,000 to 300,000 square feet of office space. Hopefully they stay downtown and if they end up being part of a new development, even better. http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/blog/real_estate/2013/02/tcf-kicks-off-site-search-for-hq...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
We don't need to be subsidizing a mega-profitable bank that isn't even HQ'd in the Twin Cities though. If they don't like it I really don't care....they can move to SD too for all I care. While I agree with you to an extent, I think it's time for people in the TC area to tone it down a bit when it ...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
I could care less if there is a 500'+ tower at this site. I just thought the location deserved something better in regards to design. At that point, we can knock it down and build a tower. There's an entire spectrum of development between surface parking and 500'+ tower.

I'm a bit curious as to why Nasa's post regarding the new towers was deleted? After all, didn't s/he claim to have some insider knowledge about the developments? Even though I don't buy it, I don't see his/her post being any different from the other speculative news posted elsewhere on this forum (i...
