Re: Nicollet Mall
Just curious what people's thought are about Nicollet now that it seems the greening has taken root. Of course not much activity currently but overall appearance? Nicollet Mall makes me sad right now. As far as the greening goes they removed all the landscaping rocks around the trees and replaced t...

Are you sure it wasn't 10th and Hawthorne? They are building a new hotel.Anyone know what is happening on the 10th and Hennepin site? Have a buddy that works downtown message me today asking what is going in there. I wasn't aware of anything.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
I can't say I'm surprised. Their service was awful and prices were too high for the quality of food and drinks. They did have a good happy hour though.
They didn't even attempt to reopen since March. I suspect by April they were already planning on not reopening.

Public Street Blocked by Residents
This bothers me more than it probably should: https://minnesota.cbslocal.com/2020/07/09/mpls-neighborhood-built-barricades-to-block-street-hoping-for-safety-less-crime/ I'm sympathetic to the residents of this block, but installing gates and posting no trespassing signs on a public street is not the...

Re: Peavey Plaza
What's going on with Peavey Plaza? They waited until July 2nd to turn on the fountains. I just walked by at 7:30 pm and the fountains were not on. I stopped by before 8:30 the other evening and the fountains were off. This is probably the best public space in the city. It's a shame it feels like it'...

I don't think I've ever gone by that corner and not seen a couple people (presumably Exodus residents?) sitting in that little park. Not heavily used, necessarily, but it may be the most consistently used green space in downtown. I always got the impression that the little park area on the corner w...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
The owner of the Northstar Center is having the place subdivided into separate tracts. It would be great to see some sort of redevelopment or at minimum repurposing of this block. </wishful thinking> https://lims.minneapolismn.gov/download/Agenda/775/RPT-PLAN11079-North%20Star%20Center.pdf/45686/17...

Re: Crime
When does something like this go from a regular shooting, to a terror incident? This event doesn't match normal gun violence which usually is usually 1) Gang members targeting someone outside a home or car with one or two victim. 2) Related to disputes Downtown when the bars get our or etc. 3) Dome...

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but the plans for the new building (246 7th Ave) sure look like it's going to be a grocery store. There's separate parking access and ~18,000 sqft. My question is which one? Aldi? Cub? another Lund's? or maybe the first small-scale Hy-Vee? A downtown ALD...

If it’s a photo studio, I don’t see why that couldn’t be incorporated into a new development. I would imagine that the price of the land has skyrocketed since Southwest light rail is going through. It seems like such an awful use of land that is extremely close to the light rail station. Sent from ...

Any thoughts on what is going on here. I have not seen this truck before. It's a sewer vacuum truck. Not sure what it's there for - perhaps they are connecting to the main sewer line and needed it clear. Or something happened in the construction process that needed a vac truck. They are using it fo...

I worry this may be well intentioned, but wrong. Drivers are responsible for operating their vehicles safely. That includes keeping their vehicles in safe working order.
