Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
If enough people complain about this, they will have to solve it, right? The fact that he said it wasn't meant to be a good option to get from downtown to downtown makes me feel like the ~48 minutes is set in stone. :/

Re: General Discussion Thread - Chanhassen
It's just that anytime I see something like this proposed in cities like Woodbury or Eden Prairie, I get a little bummed out. I suppose it might be better than nothing but it is only promoting more sprawl.

Re: General Discussion Thread - Chanhassen
Looks like every other relatively new one story building in any suburb. There are people who don't consider Chanhassan a suburb?

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor
I worry that the city will want to make the mall look complete by the time the Super Bowl rolls around, making it much more expensive and difficult to fit in a street car.

Interesting. It's pretty nice that the stadium will be downtown where everything else will be going on.

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
People know Minnesota. People have heard of Minneapolis. But, unless it was "minnesotaplois", after hearing minnesota, they won't just assume that the Super Bowl is in minneapolis. Then where exactly do they think it is? They don't. I think you're giving the average person too much credit...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
Arizona Cardinals? Golden State Warriors of the NBA? My point still stands the Super Bowl brings in a significant amount of viewers that would otherwise not be watching football. Hence being geographically challenged. While that in and of itself is not a bad thing. Telling all those fans the Super ...

Re: Hennepin & Lyndale Bottleneck Project
It's useful to remember that every single one of these structurally deficient bridges could have been remedied for less than the cost of the St. Croix Bridge. And we'd still have $150 million left over. Valid point, but if we followed your plan we'd no longer be getting the next Golden Gate Bridge....

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
I assume it has something to do with the view from the stadium. Keeping a building low in that area will solidify a great view of the city for vikings fans. Anything much higher would probably block quite a bit, making the big open doors that will face the skyline less valuable.

How is that house even worthy of mention? Because it's been there for so long? Has it provided any purpose to the public? I used to just assumed it was some ugly old crack house.

Artwork depicting Norse mythology EVERYWHERE. The Vikings could really run wild with the team's identity and come up with some borderline frightening imagery. Read up on the Ragnarok (Norse apocalypse) if you haven't before- it's pretty insane. At least they've managed to work the Gjallarhorn into ...

Re: University Avenue Traffic Lane Modification Study
Most people don't live in cities for transportation reasons. If they are of middle class background they often do it for cultural reasons. In my case I find the suburbs to be extremely alienating, and am drawn to the creative community of the city (which I have been a part of for 20+ years). In oth...

Re: University Avenue Traffic Lane Modification Study
Well, for starters, not everyone rides a bike or uses public transportation, or wants to. There are no laws banning bikes from using the roadway, but you want to close a lane so that we can accommodate a bike that is 20 inches wide.? I rode my bike all over the cities when I was younger, (yes, even...

Re: University Avenue Traffic Lane Modification Study
The result of this is that most of the people going to University in St Paul are driving there if they can. But what if they can't? Humans are pretty good at adapting. I suppose we could get rid of grocery stores. Or add more. I understand it's not called for in a lot of areas but it would be nice ...
