Re: Target Center Renovation
This story attempts to answer that question. http://blogs.mprnews.org/stadium-watch/2013/10/28/whats-the-difference-between-a-155m-and-a-97m-renovation/ The Wolves spokesman says they may lose the big cantilevered roof line. Also, there will be a new batch of renderings forthcoming. That bums me ou...

Re: University Avenue Traffic Lane Modification Study
I almost always question the business community's bellows when ostreet parking removal is even suggested because I'm really not certain they have a firm grasp on where/how their customers visit their stores. You think Avenue Motors, Economy Muffler and Goodyear et al tire shops really need to condu...

Re: University Avenue Traffic Lane Modification Study
You're dead against projects trying to decrease the number of people driving cars? How very progressive of you. It's clearly not just my ideal, it's the hope of most cities in the nation, and you have to start somewhere. But I suppose it's pointless to argue on a subject you're dead set on. I, howev...

Re: Green Line (Central)
So the priority is to get rid of cars? Pretty much at any cost? There was a rather large change to University, so saying people don't like an idea because they're afraid of change doesn't make sense. Perhaps there could be something wrong wirh the merit of the idea. I'm not saying that the plan wil...

Re: Green Line (Central)
I'm not saying that the plan will work or that it's the best plan, but it is a plan. If the ultimate goal is to decrease the number of people driving cars, then why shouldn't I be annoyed by commenters shooting down potentially progressive ideas all because they are afraid of change? It is just an i...

Re: Green Line (Central)
A group is studying converting a lane of traffic on University to parking and bike lanes. Three years ago I could not have imagined doing this, but with the LRT traffic calming I actually think this could be a great idea. http://www.twincities.com/stpaul/ci_24357316/university-avenue-group-study-cu...

I won't be back in town until the holidays and would love to see a picture of the foot traffic, if anyone is around the area during busy hours.

Re: Vikings Stadium
With everything I've seen so far, I actually love the design. Reminds me of a glacier and should look pretty neat in the snow. However, I do wonder why we haven't seen any images of the opposite side. Is it just going to be a huge wall?

Re: Alatus Apartment Tower - (301 Washington Avenue South)
Even if they decided to scratch the stocky and go the tall and skinny route the open space ideally would still get filled and the sun would still get blocked.

Those big trees in Seattle add a lot of character to the streets. Only place I can think of that we have similar is St. Anthony.

Re: Washington Avenue
I really like this setup: http://boingboing.net/2013/05/10/bike-lanes-led-to-49-increase.html It allows an obvious separation (much better than 1st ave) of a walkway, bicycle lane, parking, and road. It also doesn't look like it would be as expensive as those other concepts that provide the same sep...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
An honest question: Out of curiosity, what specifically makes this building unattractive to everyone? Aside from better material, were you hoping for more glass, different colors, or what? Isn't this exactly what the renderings showed?

Re: Dinkytown
Putting residential buildings in a business district is the formula for a business district's failure. It's also the formula for pissing me off! And don't get me started on buildings that go right up to the sidewalk!
But seriously, it would be nice to see some more variations in building size.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
Both. There has been several occasions where I had to explain what that ugly green line on Hennepin is for and I'm not understanding why you're against banning cars from parking in those lanes. Bike lanes are for bikes, not for parked cars.
