Re: Green Line (Central)

Thanks.

Heard about it being tested East of Snelling; spotter was surprise at how fast it was going when it 'surprised' him.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

If you route this on [any given North South Street] to make it reach uptown before heading into SLP then your going to have to deal with what happened on University all over again!
Because we can only build tunnels in the woods?

Re: Rush Line Corridor

Ease of extending post WBL should be considered-
If there's an old ROW that just needs tracks and caternary, vs , say tunneling, lots of traffic from Forest Lake.

Re: I-35W/I-94 Commons

Not near a pc to get the quote, but Lake st website stated it was a branch from legislature's mandate to fix the very area area you (astutely) complain of.
Ironically all information on this area disappeared from that website ...

Average 3 accidents /day. Not cool.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

This line won't do anything significant for development in Minneapolis. It is to carry people from the suburbs into Minneapolis, and deliberately avoids dense areas of our city. Talk of anything ocurring immediately West of downtown will occur with or without the line, and could be well served by si...

Re: Transit News and Happenings

Which is not to say that they shouldn't relocate the Lake Street bus stops, but if you think that will solve the overall problem, you're dreaming. You're referring to me? I said center stops would "speed up traffic" not "solve the overall problem". There is a difference. And the...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

I'd guess reason they want train is more at that the same reason they want automatically closing trunk lids.

Re: Transit News and Happenings

Article on how our driving (busses take a hit here, if you read it as I did) contributes to traffic jams. http://m.startribune.com/local/?id=225734591&c=y I had no idea what signs meant, assumed it was similar to signs on off ramps suggesting a speed to negotiate ramp. Adding center Lake st stop...

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor

One question I had was answered by their map; http://cityoflakes.maps.arcgis.com/home/webmap/viewer.html?webmap=213b5f8bd576449b9c205c27f29181a3&extent=-93.41,44.9,-93.101,45.0612 Line crosses to Hennepin at Washington. A lot's been discussed about 'jams' on Nicollet mall, any talk as to how thi...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

i'm just happy to see the line not built- I get that freight was eventually supposed to go thru SLP- What I see for benefits to my city are far outweighed by the damage it will do- and any benefit could be better served by extending West (to where people, now, actually live) a few stops, and running...

Yes, noticed single overhead on WAB, too.
Has anyone seen University overhead line progress East of Snelling?

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

I think an issue with doing that is the lines not worth expendin 'political capitol' on.
Certainly legislators are independent of Governor.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

I biked the trail recently and there were ugly freight trains just parked in front of newer apartments near Hwy. 100, as seen on Google maps, oblique view: http://goo.gl/maps/VSf8b If I was an SLP resident in that area, I'd most certainly be in favor of relocation. Trains have to go somewhere , I'm...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

Following that news, Chair Haigh has rejected Mayor Rybak's (and others') call for further study of freight alternatives, setting up a showdown between Minneapolis and St. Louis Park. This is about to get really ugly. Hornstein & Dibble take on Haigh, rather directly. http://m.startribune.com/?...

Re: Road Geek Topics

Lots of streets are brick, just paved over. Minnehaha and Franklin are last places I recal seeing brick poking thru, and intrtestingly theres long faults parallel with street forming- wondering if its a section of rail. Just off a 35E exit there's still cobblestone, Osceola rd I think, near St. Clair

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor

That is good news. I *assume* nicollet bus barn housed streetcars in the same area. ★ What stops them from using that facility or adding an annex? What happened to serving the 46th & 35w bus stop? Last I heard Kmart was holding out for $. Any mention of this? Could the store still exist, but sma...
