Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
Any clue what the Minneapolis Public Works buildings there are used for? They all show as staying in that graphic (although their parking lots are shown to be redevelopment).

Re: Knollwood Mall - St. Louis Park
MGM's location is fenced in as well. I'm happy I walked to the mall on Sunday as the parking lot looked like a PITA with everything going on.

Re: Embarrassing Confessions of Urbanists
There are two dealerships in Hopkins just off the 12.Also, isn't it ironic that you need a car to get to the dealerships in the Twin Cities to buy a car? None of the locations is really transit-accessible. SIGH.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
LRT is in the southern shallow tunnel at Cedar Lake Ave/Parkway. The municipal consent plans show the trail at grade and the roadway being 32' wide, 1 lane each direction. Would be nice if they'd add a bump-out at the crossing to narrow the roadway at the very least. Looks like it's something for Mi...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
So what happens to the freight trains during construction? From the planning documents and older IMPS revisions I've seen, the first part of the construction is to do the earthwork and build the new freight tracks. Then they can move the freight over and tear out the old tracks. Really #5 was optio...

Except it's not a straight %. There are also costs per transaction, more fees for rewards and/or corporate cards and so on. Where I work, AmEx is the simplest computation: 2.89% + .15 and then .18 to our merchant processor. So your $2.00 transaction for us would cost .39 (ie 20%) if paid by a credit...

I'd presume he's talking about other LRT projects advancing through the system - see slide 7 in the presentation for todays CMC meeting http://metrocouncil.org/getdoc/db1852e1-822d-4865-899e-5b489e457b4d/Presentation.aspx Funny coming from McLaughlin, he's one of the first people who should be takin...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
You should also check out the Hennepin County LRT System DEIS from 1988/89. Chapter 3 page 12 has figure 3.5 that shows a big North/South tunnel option that would have been for both SW and Hiawatha. Two other tunnel options are mentioned and discarded, mostly due to poor geology downtown. I find it ...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
According to what I was able to find, the only two routes considered between West Lake and DT are Kenilworth or Greenway->Nicollet. Were both Greenway->Hennepin and Greenway->Lyndale even considered or immediately discarded due to ... the Triangle? The Rail Feasibility Study(~2002) has a listing of...

Re: Road Crime
The underlying data is rather interesting. I'll have to poke around it more tonight. For now though, some snippets: I'm just interested in the second most common auto-based contributing factor, "No Clear Factor." Was it just poor street design that induced speeding, lowering reaction times...

Click the clock in the upper right corner to pause and resume. I hit the mid 700's without pausing but with pausing and using my fifth line an 'oh shit' relief valve managed to hi 1273. Still amazed someone got 1606 (on steams forum).

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
By virtue of the year delay in extra construction this hybrid tunnel plan should be killed. Not to mention I'm guessing a lot of the 'water/lakes quality' people won't be happy with the construction method (block off the channel for a year to dig down and build the tunnel, then reform the bed and ba...

TCW and Soo will vacate all use of, and permanently terminate all rights to use, the Rail Corridor no later than thirty (30) days after a new connection between the Soo Hopkins line (TCW's current operating route) an...

(as an aside, I also asked about bonding re SWLRT and what our reps are doing to counteract Dibble and Hornstein, and I thought the response to these questions were pretty good). What was their response on this? Probably should move that to the SWLRT thread. It's on youtube: https://www.youtube.com...
