Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
1 and 2 resonate with me for sure. I lived on Oak Grove Street for 3 years (had off-street parking) and loved it At first, I was working in the western 'burbs, and it was slick and easy getting on 394. Then, I worked in the IDS, so I walked. So LP served me well in that regard. Then I moved up near ...

Re: Opus Ritz Block Development
That picture raises a question I've always wondered: Why did the early 1990's BRW renovation rip out all the trees? They were fairly mature by that point (25 odd years or so). Seems like a pretty terrible decision in retrospect. True. Now there are some oaks coming in, and right in time to be sawed...

Home depot (NYC): https://c1.staticflickr.com/5/4078/4799611056_9d756d46f0_b.jpg My friends used to live a block away from this Home Depot. There was just something so cool about being surrounded by home supplies in the middle of the city. There's also a Best Buy nearby that I used to do graphics f...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
I'm somewhat skeptical Sports Authority is going to do well in this location. I am too. But, then again, I suppose I'm not the hugest jock. I guess I'm wondering how often people need to buy sporting goods. B3 would be nice. I'm still miffed that Crate & Barrel left and that stupid Target comme...

Re: Downtown Restaurant News
I don't know where my mind is pulling this from, but I'd like to see Fitger's from Duluth move to this location. They had pretty zealous plans to move into the North Loop and then totally pulled back. They'd be akin to Rock Bottom, which does well, but better.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
I walked through there today and it feels so different with that temp hallway wrapping toward the backside. I can't wait for this to take shape and open. Target is going to lose some of my grocery business!

Re: Conrad Hotel @ Plymouth Building - 12 6th Street S
Wow, this news is awkward. What's the skinny on the existing offices moving out? I know one office moved into Lumber Exchange, but I'm not sure if they proactively moved before a deadline, or forced. It would be weird to vacate the building and then have this happen.

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
I think the most we'll see in awhile will be public skyway access starting at Xcel 2, then to Nic on Fifth, to 5th Street Towers, etc. And, what about a diagonal skyway from the Library to Xcel 2 *waits for emotional meltdowns*. But with the Library, I'm betting nothing will connect until Ritz gets ...

It is. There is a little hallway in front of the convenience store in the 50 S. 6th building.Question: is Renaissance Square skyway accessible (via 50 S 6th)?

Re: RBC Plaza / Gaviidae II renovation
It is crazy that Ren Sq space has been vacant so long... I get the feeling they are more interested in leasing to some sort of commercial office use than retail anyway. I thought at one point, Olsen was considering moving there, but ultimately ended up at Ford Centre. It would be kinda nice to have...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Think about it, do we really want our skyway levels or (god forbid) our street level buildings taken up by dark, inward facing, single-use food courts? Not at all. Bright, airy food courts like 330 2nd Ave's, though, are just fine. Exactly. I think they can be very pro-urbanist because it's an amen...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
I would like to see more common seating areas. There are quite a few neat little food places with not enough seating. So then I'm traipsing around to sit in the Crystal Court and eat, or Northstar has some seating on main level. I suppose why have general seating areas that aren't collecting rent fr...

At this point, I prefer Mortenson, minus the trendy mast/pole on the one corner. I suppose you could saw that off after a couple of years.

True. My first instinct was, "Oh now what, friggin' Minneapolis?" but upon reading the letter, I did a 180. He sure did get some publicity for his firm! Brilliance. And maybe he can propose something similar for the TCF corner. This was Mr. Duval's to lose. And he lost it.

There is no way that this will block North Loopers' view. I agree with Anondson, there is something off with that rooftop addition.

I like our proposal better. Madison's is so played out. Hello, 2008 called, and they want their overly contrived, Jenga-block style of architecture back.

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)
Did anything ever go into the former Walgreen's spot under the 4th/Nicollet parking ramp (which was torn down for the Opus/Xcel project)? IIRC it was vacant from the day the store closed (moved down Nic Mall) to the day the ramp came down. It did remain empty until demolition. Actually, the Walgree...
