Re: RBC Plaza / Gaviidae II renovation

It is LOUD too. Even waiting for the Green Line, I'll take a Blue to the next stop just to get away from it.

Re: Nic on Fifth - (290' - 26 Stories)

Any clues to how Metrotransit will use the second platform between 2015 & 2019?
I'm really just hoping they let NB passengers get off onto it, so I don't have to cross the tracks when I'm going to catch the 18.

That's strange--isn't that the address for that Chinese food place next to McDonalds? That place always looked pretty healthy, but I suppose it's hard to tell.

The whole area behind the logos is maroon, then the station logos are yellow and have the M logo inside.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

I was on a Green Line tonight where the strip maps had a maroon and UMN-branded indication of the Campus Zone. It looked pretty ugly. I should've gotten a picture, but it didn't occur to me until afterward.

Re: Cedar Ave - Nokomis Area

I've lived here for 20 years and I still don't really know the streets and avenues. I navigate the city based on landmarks. Really? Aside from some edge cases (eg. the streets between Lyndale and Nicollet in south, Loring Park/Heights, and a couple other small areas) I can pretty much pinpoint some...

Re: Opus Ritz Block Development

For the record, I specifically said that the Lord & Taylor thing sounded rumor-ish: A. Because the media hasn't caught a whiff of it B. Because there are members of said media posting in this thread I absolutely did not call anyone a liar or intentionally hurt anyone's feely-feels. It just feel...

Re: Eat Street

That is more of a grab and go than a good sit down pizzeria. This will be a staple for eat street like the one in the North Loop and the one in the Rossmore on Robert Street in St. Paul. It I hope will end the musical chairs of restaurants that have moved through this space. It will be a landmark l...

Finally something that is not trendy and will be well used by all of the neighborhood. Is there another pizza place on Eat Street??
There's A Slice of New York on 24th and Nicollet.

Re: Current & Proposed Downtown Minneapolis Projects

You have to keep in mind, though, that a freeway lid can make adjacent parcels more attractive for development. No one wants to build right next to an urban freeway trench.

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)

Oh lord, are they selling naming rights for the park too? It's bad enough to replace the Humphrey Metrodome with Giant Corporation Stadium; do we really have to have the Thrivent Commons outside?

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

I doubt that includes the commuter route; Lake to Old St. Anthony (the proposed route for the Nicollet-Central) takes about 40 minutes on the 17/18 to go the 4-ish miles, and that includes a lot of long lights downtown.

Yeah, they were. I'm not going to bother digging through the rumors thread for the quote, but wasn't Avian's Texas contact saying something like "various groups would like to partner with Opus to build something iconic, but Opus is really conservative and will probably go with a couple ~30 sto...

Re: Nicollet-Central Streetcar

I can't speak to (1), but as for (2), you'd probably try to a) do that work at the same time as the rest of the Mall reconstruction, and b) do it in smaller chunks at night, while running the LRT through during the day. There would probably be a shortish period of disruption, with trains ending at D...

Re: Nicollet-Central Streetcar

One of the main posters at Rail-volution features the streetcar! blocked by a toyota matrix stuck in traffic? The 18 is only very rarely blocked by traffic on Nicollet. Most of its running time is stop frequency, merging, and intersection crossing, all of which the Streetcar won't have to deal with...
