Re: Vision Loss Resources Redevelopment - Lyndale & Franklin

I'd have to agree that the current design looks like a cash cow. If I were an investor living in Florida I would be head over heels in love with it.

Re: Amtrak Empire Builder and Intercity Rail to Chicago

Also note that after you arrive at Ohare you still have to get downtown, but when you get off the train you already *are* downtown.

I found it by accident. All I wanted to do was open the picture in a new tab so I could zoom it. When a site disables that I always get interested.

IOS appears unaffected, not sure about Android.

Re: Prospect Park - General Topics

I don't pretend to an 3l33t h4x0r, but a quick glance under the hood at the page source of that *LOCKED* bizjournals link turned up a link to z.moatads.com, which is pretty well known malware, FYI. Maybe if you have an account they don't try to infect you? Or maybe it's really harmless, and I just b...

How does the ebike charging work? Are the charging stations grid connected?

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)

Is it really traffic congestion on this stretch of Nicollet that's the issue? In my experience, this bus is slow because it makes lots of stops and has lots of passengers getting on and off. Yep, a lot of passengers and stops. It's pretty remarkable how many people are getting on and off those buse...

Re: Vision Loss Resources Redevelopment - Lyndale & Franklin

Do they have a strategy to monetize all that parking, I wonder, or is it just there to mollify the neighborhood group? Will parking be a $200 a month add-on for your $1300 a month tiny apartment?

Re: RE: Re: Vision Loss Resources Redevelopment - Lyndale & Franklin

Looks like they're planning on keeping the semi trucks pulling a 90° back in from Lyndale feature. Early stages but not a fan of this Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk Care to elaborate? Are they planning some form of retail large enough it requires semi parking/loading? Twitter guy says 10,000...

Re: Vision Loss Resources Redevelopment - Lyndale & Franklin

A little quick googling shows a height of 119 for TMBR.

Conventional concrete construction is an environmental disaster. The amount of natgas which has to burned to make the cement is huge, plus a lot of dirty diesel to haul it there and hoist all that weight into place.

Re: Future Cars: Electric and Autonomous Vehicles

The potential scenarios for electric vehicles span a wide range of possibilities, from a car-to-go type sharing service using BEV Smartfortwo's, all the way up to Suburbans and Tahoes which are even heavier because they are carrying 2000 LB battery packs. The environmental impacts of these two scena...

Re: Electric Scooters

This looks pretty legit, it appears to be a serious attempt at analyzing lifecycle environmental impacts of dockless e-scooters: https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.1088/1748-9326/ab2da8/pdf If scooter trips replace walking, biking or transit, the net effect is negative, as you might expect. It's a real head scratcher to see all that inventory, all those coolers, and all that expensive underground parking for a store that's only open to sell stuff and collect money for 11 hours out of the day.

The 10 O'clock Scholar (where Bob Dylan arguably launched his career) was right across the alley. Perhaps they could incorporate a small exhibit.

Re: Rex 26 - 2601 Lyndale Ave S

His rationale for coming back several months after groundbreaking and asking for a larger project than the one approved by CPED was that requirements imposed by Aldi required a bigger building to be financially viable. He shrewdly recognized that public demand for the Aldi store gave him leverage to...

Not totally on board with these posts being moved. I was hoping to bring this back around to Sam, where I started it, and discuss the assumptions that he and his colleagues on the planning commission are working from. It's uplifting to hear him say that we should be more like New York or Paris, but ...
