Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
Couple other suggestions and questions (pardon me if these have already been asked!) You have 494 labeled as 394 on the western edge Labeling regions "Uptown," "Phillips" and "Powerhorn" seems odd. Why use neighborhood names some places and regional names other places? ...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
This is looking nice! I would include St./Ave. on the numbered roads. Locals will know what you mean but visitors could get confused. So 21st. St., 38th St., etc.

Re: 2013 Minneapolis Municipal Elections
Clearing sidewalks is critical. S. Emerson and 28th St. are STILL not cleared around the old Bennet site. It is impassable for anyone with even a mild phyiscal challenge.
It really is not hard to shovel a sidewalk.

Re: Transit News and Happenings
He'd have to recuse himself from a LOT of decisions, then. Pretty much any highway or transit decision Mn/DOT makes is going to impact Jefferson Lines in some way. He'd have to recuse himself so much he might as well not be commissioner.

I had exactly the same thoughts. In particular, I wonder how he will view Mn/DOT's responsibility for Greater MN transit.

Re: Washington Avenue
I LOVE this idea! It really would clean up the area.
Doing a "google maps real" photoshop of some of the Bottleneck change ideas would be very informative.

That's an interesting idea! They could have a nice little retail store at street level selling archived pictures, articles, books by staff members, etc.Um, how about Strib moves to block E

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
I always assumed the Strib would relocate to the printing facility in the Warehouse district. I have no idea how much office space is there, though. I would really like the Strib building to be saved. The facade is unique and it would seem to be a good candidate for office space or maybe higher-end ...

Re: Subsidized Housing
I'm probably missing a program or two but I'm sure they're peanuts compared to the mortgage interest deduction. This is an excellent point. I would completely support eliminated the mortgage interest deduction as well as a number of other tax expenditures. Tax expenditures make up ~$1.4 trillion of...

Re: Subsidized Housing
Affordable housing can integrate very well with market-rate housing. There are good examples in Baltimore where a single development has both affordable and market-rate units. One of the things that makes it works is that the exteriors are all basically the same quality - it's the interior amenities...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
Awesome map, Visualiser! Indeed! I don't want to get hung up on all the fixes. :) To me, aBRT is a joke. It shouldn't be called BRT, nor should the Red Line. It's not BRT. It's enhanced bus service, which is great, but it's not BRT. I suppose that once people are disappointed with "BRT," ...

Huh, just found this thread. :) I'm David and I've been working focusing on land use use and transportation issues with ISAIAH for the past nine years. I first got passionate about urban development issues back in the "fascist town with a liberal paint job" Ann Arbor, MI. At least that's h...

Hamline, Victoria, Western.Which stations is the Central missing?
You know, the ones the neighborhoods fought for so they wouldn't be left behind.

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
So to sum that up, yes to a Midtown LRT connection between the Lake Street Stations of the Green and Blue lines, no to also including Lake Street aBRT. I have some sympathy for what you're saying but I also wonder if a streetcar wouldn't be better on Lake Street. That's where the retail is. I fear ...

Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map
It might be helpful to include the routes selected by CTIB here: http://www.mnrides.org/transit-projects/transit-map I saw this map at the Union Depot opening and was struck by how different it is from the Met Council and even TLC maps. Now, the law says CTIB can't fund anything that isn't in the Me...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
It's really not too bad. The central point of the article is that supporters and opponents often have very different views of what transit is for. That's pretty accurate as far as my own experience goes.Snap judgment:
Headline: Oh God kill me.
Byline: Oh okay never mind.

Re: Saint Paul Union Depot
As others have said, the crowd was MUCH larger than I expected. We only spent about an hour there but we had a great time. A number of people were interested in the historic stairway, which I found encouraging. For me the most disappointing part of the design is the location of the ticketing. I unde...

Re: Green Line (Central)
Observations are that Washington Avenue Bridge is now next to worthless for auto traffic; Didn't see a single vehicle, so if you need to take a nap undisturbed Shhh! That's my secret route home when 94 is packed! Central station looks just awesome, all lit up with bus stations near Yes it does!
