Glad to see a surface parking lot being converted to a building. I though this was interesting:
"The new building can't be taller than 58 feet. State law bars any structure on the campus from exceeding the Capitol cornice in height."

Re: Vikings Stadium
This stadium is really a winter baseball stadium for the upper midwest. The Vikings will just play in it 10 times a year. Here is an excerpt from when the snow collapsed the roof in 2010: Lester said the Metrodome typically hosts hundreds of college baseball games in early spring as teams throughout...

Re: Vikings Stadium
My first thought was "Are you serious?", but it is growing on me. The west side view is nice, but the other 3 sides interaction with the street/neighborhood is poor IMO. Not sure how they are claiming to connect to the downtown skyway. The only connections I see are to the parking ramps fo...

Re: Washington Avenue
I love the separation of automobiles from peds and bikers.
How will the city deal with snow removal in winter from the bike lanes?

Re: Major League Soccer in Minnesota
I would rather see it in downtown StP or Mpls, but I guess the LRT and 494 are good for transport. Probably woudl still need to make 5000 space parking ramp. It seems that this location would not be very pedestrian friendly and not provide much opportunity for pub crawls prior to matches. Let's just...

Re: Green Line (Central)
Can someone get a picture of the downtown st. paul maintenance facilty?
Is is completed yet?
I am curious how this interacts with the street and eventually the new ballpark.

Seriously no clubhouse? That really is barebones; I guess it is back to fundraising for lights and a locker room.

^^^^ Interesting that the 5th St Towers have a large amount of vacancy. Espcially since it is very close to the LRT stop.

Re: Vikings Stadium
I don't think DTE will look anything like SD for quite a while if there are indeed 3 blocks of 'open space' as the proposed site plan shows. I can't think of an NFL stadium that doesn't isolate itself from the city; even Indy, Detroit and Seattle don't have anything near Petco Park. I hope we can ma...

Re: Vikings Stadium
I still don't get the field level suites.
Why would you want to see the players standing on the sideline or sitting on the bench and watch the game on the TV in the suite? maybe you cna get a smelly towel or empty Gatorade cup from one of the water boys as a souvenir.

My initial thought is "wouldn't it have been easier to re-create the columns?". But I guess they are preserving 'something'.

Re: Vikings Stadium
Did anybody see Notre Dame vs Navy in Dublin Saturday? The game was played in Aviva stadium. My wife and kids all stated a separate times " Woah, where are they playing that game?". This is the type of stadium Mpls needs. http://www.uhnd.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/notre-dame-notebook-n...

Re: Neiman Marcus Closing DT Location
Nieman Marcus is closing downtown, but developers are planning an upscale shopping mall in Eagan.
This should be a red flag for the city of Mpls, there is a perception that 'upscale' people don't come downtown.

Re: 350 North Fifth Street
I guess I'll go out and say it: I think these look awkward and out of place here. With that thinking we wouldn't have the IDS tower. It is good to have discussions about a project (that is exactly what this forum is for), but I am really surprised about the negative feedback. Adding density and rem...

I totally agree Phil, this would be fantastic to have throughout the city.Which is exactly why the city needs to move faster on getting projects like this done: http://www.ouruptown.com/2012/04/a-cycl ... ke-street/

I was at the Philly airport two weeks ago and that is exactly what she called Minneapolis!" Oh , that's the stadium in Mindianapolis !"
