Re: Happy Hour!

I'm skipping the existing stations and starting with the new ones. West Bank: tons of options, Republic, Town Hall, Palmers, Nomad, etc. East Bank: Beacon Public House? depends how far away from the line you want to go Stadium Village: Stub & Herbs (it feels like a stadium village spot though it...

Re: Hennepin Avenue

I don't think there's a line that really goes into Edina. Is there?
The only one that goes through Uptown to Edina is a the 6. Otherwise they have the express buses 568, 578, 587. And the 46 which you could take any express to the 46th st stop on 35W and hop on.

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

So this is an old project, but I didn't know where else to put the question, so feel free to move it to wherever it belongs mods. I happened to be up in Little Canada/Maplewood the other day, and noticed the weird Rice St/Hwy 36 area. The lanes on Rice and County Rd B have little buffers painted bet...

That link actually doesn't work (not your issue twincit but MetroTransit's) but here is the working link: right here Edit: They say: "UPDATE: Due to overwhelming feedback, we've already received enough responses. Participants will be contacted shortly. Thanks for your interest in testing our ne...

Re: Uptown Restaurant News

If we imagine there are only $133000 in total tips, then the credit card company is getting $4000 one way or the other. Each server in this scenario makes $6650 in tips. So if 3% is taken, they lose $200. Otherwise they keep their $200 and the owner loses 20*$200=$4000. Those numbers seem low to me,...

Re: Uptown Restaurant News

I will say that while the 3% hit may reduce the owner's take from $40k to $36k, it's an even bigger hit for the wait staff. If they are really making the same $40k as the owner, by taking that 3% the owner is reducing each member of the wait staff's salary from $40k to $36k, which is a $4k * N redu...

Re: Apartment Hunting General Discussion

Does anyone have any good apartment hunting websites, or other resources? Looking all over the two cities, plus maybe SLP or Robbinsdale. I know of padmapper.com and obviously craigslist. Any other thoughts?

Re: Greystar West Lake Apartments - 2626 Lake Street W

I am talking about a combined household income. I am 31, and the average of all the couples I know is probably closer to $150k. And we not affluent in any way. A $75k job is pretty average with 7+ years of experience. With that being said, not any couple would be willing to throw down anything clos...

what you're saying FISHMANPET & twincitizen, is that the two of you (and maybe others) would prefer not to see people post what they would prefer to see on the build site as opposed to what is currently known? Unless you would prefer to see better street frontage on a building or a different ro...

I have the USI wireless and I love it. Super cheap, no dealing with Comcast and I can stream shows just fine. Though fiber'd be even better I'm sure.

Re: Video Games

I agree about the pause button, but it might be a specific choice. Like in real life, if you designed a system poorly in the beginning, you can't rip out all your subways and restart after your city grows. I'm sure NYC wishes you could though. But the game moves so fast it's hard for me to draw thin...

Re: Current & Proposed Downtown Minneapolis Projects

Well of course on a specific project they wouldn't, and I never pretended that they would ever say "These internet guys think we should do this instead. Make it so." But I think pretending that this site should be only for drawing maps that will somehow sway public officials is pretty limi...

Re: Current & Proposed Downtown Minneapolis Projects

I don't know why it's obvious that an elected official would see a fantasy map one of us made and want to build it and impossible for a CEO to see a fantasy proposal one of us made and want to build it. Your claim seems to be that elected officials are open to ideas and unelected officials are close...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium

So says you and many others. I disagree, as do many others. But we never got our referendum to decide whether most people agree with you or not. I find the scholarship outlining the utter lack of economic impact from a new stadium more convincing than the other side. But one thing that all scholarsh...

Re: Seward Co-op Friendship Store - (38th St & Clinton Ave)

I buy stuff from the bulk sections all the time. They are cheaper than Rainbow or Cub and have a much broader selection than Aldi. But then I guess buying bulk rolled oats is the epitome of "upper middle class excess." Especially if they were organic rolled oats or, god forbid, grown near ...
