Re: Metro Park East - (2701 4th Street Southeast)
The leasing office for this one is in one of the old conference rooms in the Commons Hotel on Washington apparently. Side note: They also had a pretty big advertising banner up at the Gopher Football game against Nebraska a couple weeks ago... Really the first time that I've seen housing advertising...

Re: The Venue at Dinkytown - (14th Avenue SE & 5th Street SE
The Marshall leasing office has been open for a while. This one looks to be wrapping up, but I still can't tell if it will be for the Venue (although likely).

Re: Physics and Nanotechnology Building
I'm not one to criticize architecture often, because I know quite a few individuals in the field who work very hard at what they do, which I appreciate heartily. But I'll have to step outside of that notion for a second... This building is really quite dreadful. It looks like the entire thing was dr...

Re: 15th Ave Student Housing - (15th Ave SE & 7th St SE)
I wonder what happened to this project. The houses along 15th Ave have been boarded up since August, but the row of townhouses along 7th and 14th are still occupied. I wonder if CPM decided against this for now with the successful go-ahead on WaHu and their 700 Washington developments.

Re: The Venue at Dinkytown - (14th Avenue SE & 5th Street SE
The old Pacific & Maine retail store next to Al's Breakfast looks like it is being renovated into a leasing office. I wouldn't be surprised if it was for The Venue.

Honestly, some of the concerts I go to at the Varsity are justified by the joy of visiting this bathroom during said performance.

Re: Dinkytown
Looks like it was contained in one apartment. My girlfriend said she talked to one of the firefighters and Espresso Royale sustained water and sidewalk damage but the interior was preserved. She said they are hollowing out the apartment now.

There was a fire in the building that houses Espresso Royale a couple hours ago. No news yet, but my friend took a picture which I will post later.

Re: The Bridges - (950 University Avenue SE)
This building really is huge, especially compared to Sanford/FloCo to the east. It's nice to see something other than stick construction around campus, too.

Yay!
Artistic renderings look sweet (per usual), and the fact that the developer said he wants to make it a "cool building" is promising. Love the rooftop patio pitch too.

Re: Downtown Restaurant News
I didn't realize how many fast food restaurants are closing/have closed. I suppose the food truck competition really does put a dent in skyway traffic and the brick-and-mortar businesses aren't just complaining. To anybody who works downtown - are there still long lines for food truck gooduns in the...

U of M Private Research Park
I was looking through the archives and never found anything about this, but there have been talks of this research park being developed for years now. The latest I was able to find was from February: http://finance-commerce.com/2013/02/science-park-near-u-of-m-gets-another-look/ I am going to try to...

Re: Uptown Development Map and General Discussion
Ran into this interesting old article just now: http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/stories/2010/08/09/focus1.html?page=all I didn't realize Solhem was originally going to be a hotel, and is a total bummer that it didn't end up being that. But I also find it interesting that the president of the w...
