Re: Presidential Election 2016
Vote for whoever you want, but let's not wage war on our own leading candidate. I've seen that a lot since the actual primaries have started. I went from favoring Clinton and rooting for Bernie as an underdog to solid Clinton, because he's thrown his own president and party under the bus, and his s...

Re: Presidential Election 2016
If Hillary wins, then defeat in the general is likely preferable. There it is folks. Go home, you're drunk Tiller. I actually donated to a political candidate for the first time ever today, and I'm also planning to caucus for the first time in my life, for my main Dem, the Notorious HRC. Figured I'...

Re: Presidential Election 2016
This thread is silly. If Hillary wins, then we'll just wash our hands and try again in 2020. (and we'll use the infrastructure we've set up to start throwing out centrists in Primaries in 2018, 2020, etc) In the meantime, 4 million more people will immigrate here, 16 million more people will reach ...

Re: Presidential Election 2016
Wasn't it basically ACA with a public option? Seems like a great thing for her to continue to work on.^^^ A nitpick but, as the chair or President Clinton's healthcare reform task force, what Hillary Clinton proposed in 1993 was not single payer health care.

Re: Presidential Election 2016
Maybe it's not a popular idea, but the United States is way behind a lot of other western countries and what's been done in the last 8 years are extremely baby steps forward in providing for our citizens the way many other modern western countries are. You cant fault someone for not being complacen...

Re: Presidential Election 2016
Great article, from another left-wing New England representative: http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/02/three-reasons-why-things-will-get-harder-for-bernie-sanders-213591 Choice cut: In many ways his candidacy is deeply ironic. A senior United States senator who has held national office far...

Re: Presidential Election 2016
Well you currently have a lot of young people willing to participate in the nitty gritty of politics to make change happen. If you completely disenchant them you potentially lose another whole generation of active voters in my mind. I.e. voting in Caucauses and midterms doesn't make a difference be...

Re: Presidential Election 2016
Future when? 2018? 2020? They could lose their current voters to a moderate Republican. And then the party will lose its future voters. Which came first?

Re: Presidential Election 2016
Ok, but really... The DNC hasn't really helped him either... He's been Independent. The DNC has done A LOT for Hillary so far in her past two runs... you might think she owes it to them. They certainly haven't been helping Bernie out for years. And to imply that Sanders wouldn't become a fundraiser...

Re: Presidential Election 2016
I've been mostly a Clinton supporter but I've liked Bernie all along, even holding out a chance that I'd vote for him in the caucus. But this sealed it for me: https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/why-the-democratic-establishment-fears-bernie-sanders/2016/02/19/2323482e-d70c-11e5-be55-2cc3c1e4b76...

I like it so far! Definitely some noise and draft reduction. Haven't popped them out to clean them yet but the guy showed me and it seems pretty slick.

Re: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board
What are the changes they made? I haven't ridden in a couple seasons.Again, I am not opposed to mountain biking. I am opposed to the way they implemented it. When there are lots of bikers (as there should be!) it is not safe for pedestrians.

Re: Car Sharing / Rental (Car2Go, HourCar, etc.)
According to an email they sent me yesterday, there are now Car2Go spots at Terminal 2. There is a $7.50 convenience fee added to any trip starting or ending at the airport. To make sure people pay that fee, the Parkspots at Fort Snelling Park and Ride and 46th St. Station are being removed. So it'...

Re: Uptown Hotel Discussion
I think homeowners are more invested in keeping the neighborhood as it is because when they made the decision to buy, it was the neighborhood that existed then that spurred them to buy. Change is viewed skeptically because it is a threat to the lifestyle they thought they were buying and also their...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
We talked about the 46th Street redo up thread a bit and someone (maybe me?) mentioned the accidents that tend to happen at the 4th Ave intersection. There was a bad one on Saturday afternoon that we happened upon when it was in cleanup mode. At least three cars were involved, including a Dominos d...

Re: Road Geek Topics
we should do whatever we can to punish anyone that has the nerve to drive a car that makes me roll my eyes. Yawn, eyeroll, obvious straw man. No one is saying anything like that. I reckon most of us are drivers and/or own our own cars. I personally want MORE choices that don't include driving and I...

Re: Red Line (Cedar Avenue BRT)
Yup, there's a third option. They could decide it's not worth the expense and hassle to get downtown and look for work and play in the suburbs. People obviously have some choice as to where they work but a lot of times they just take the best job they can get and then just deal with the commute or ...
