Re: Snelling BRT/enhanced bus
Metro Transit has posted a couple of updates for the A Line: - Stops near Selby and University have been settled. The stop for Selby will be one block north, at Dayton; and the stop at University will be one block south, at Spruce Tree. - A Hoyt stop is unlikely because there is no walking path on t...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
The trains are equipped with sanders, and I believe that the constant operations prevent the buildup of snow on the tracks and ice on the wires.

Re: General Suburb News
Interesting development plan out of Eagan, at the site of the former Blue Cross/Blue Shield office tower on Yankee Doodle: - Renovate the 10-story office building into 112 apartments - Add a 90 unit apartment building (probably a 4-story) - 10000 SF restaurant/retail - 3000 SF restaurant - 5000 SF b...

Re: Public Transit News and Happenings
There's a webcam for the Noble/610 park and ride ramp. How exciting. http://oxblue.com/open/knutson/highway610 -- Also found this blurb about the B Line (7th St BRT). B Line (West 7th Street) BRT planned for 2016 launch Metro Transit is also advancing the B Line on West 7th Street between dow...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
I was poking around on the Central Corridor Bus Changes website and I noticed a few new things in the February revision of the plan: Route 63: Layover at University/Emerald. Routes 68 and 71: Will no longer go to Robert St Station as planned, will instead continue to stop at 14th/Jackson as is curre...

Re: Opus Ritz Block Development
I think Cancer Survivors Park is a good location for all the residential units going up. We also have Government Plaza (north and south), Canadian Pacific Plaza, Gateway Park, the plaza in front of the Federal Courthouse, the plaza in front of that building on 3rd between 7th and 8th, the aforementi...

Maybe we can help fund a 2nd/3rd track in return for half hourly service during off peak hours and 15 min peak hour service.

Re: Northstar
According to their twitter account, the first trip was delayed 75 min+, the 2nd trip was delayed 15 min, the rest delayed 60-90 min, then the reverse commute train canceled and replaced by a bus. This is a serious damage to the image of the Northstar line. If this keeps up all the gains in ridership...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
And if were not spending $1.5 billion on LRT, legislators are going to demand a similar investment of road expansion in the area. SLP and Hopkins have a great opportunity for residential redevelopment, Minnetonka and EP have opportunities for office park redevelopment, Minneapolis has opportunities ...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
Disagree with the comments that SW shouldn't be built. Obviously it has a utility. Anyways, Kenilworth isn't going to be happy anyways. They don't want LRT period. The commotion over the freight line, the tunnel, the trees, and the groundwater make that quite clear. Personally, I don't really care w...

Re: Public Transit News and Happenings
It was proposed for 7th and 8th; however, I believe the Saks Fifth Avenue didn't want buses stopping in front of their store. As a temporary resolve for capacity issues Route 19 buses no longer stop at Nicollet Mall and 7th St. With the BRT plans, I hope that 7th and 8th do get bus lanes. Other citi...

Re: Saint Paul Streetcars
For Riverview LRT, I've always imagined it running along the Green Line from Union Depot to 5th/Minnesota station to 5th St to Smith Ave to the Railroad tracks, then running along W 7th across the river, under a new 5/55 interchange (see the Denver LRT SW line for an example), then into the Hiawatha...

Re: Nicollet Mall
I really dislike the idea of trying to put people in the middle of the street. It's nice on paper, but I don't think people are going to want to hang out in the middle of the street, surrounded by buses. I'm also predicting doom on the median plaza on Washington Avenue at the University. Just in cas...

Re: Latest Census Estimates and Met Council Projections
To be honest, I thought the projections were unrealistic. I don't expect significant amounts of redevelopment in the inner suburbs, mainly as a lot of those areas are SFH, which have holy protections from the municipal comprehensive plan gods. I have noticed an uptick in new suburban developments on...
