Re: Theater Garage Marquee Apartments - (Franklin & Lyndale)

And while it is true that their view wasn't guaranteed, I doubt anyone expected it to be completely obscured by a six-story corrugated-metal box sitting (in some cases) four feet away. I'm not saying "block the building" (yet), but really, have you no compassion at all? There are people, ...

Re: Theater Garage Marquee Apartments - (Franklin & Lyndale)

For those of you curious, it looks like they are asking to reduce the rear yard setback to just 3'7" from the "required" value of 15 feet. This was one of the (in my opinion more legitimate) items objected to in the previous proposal. I don't recall what the proposed setback was for t...

Not a giant fan of that unscreened parking ramp in the second image, but everything else looks fantastic.
In their defense, there isn't much over there right now from which to screen the garage.

That article also included a quote about the geothermal system that will be a part of this project. Another unique component of the building is the planned geothermal heating and cooling system. The site affords enough space to bury coils in the parking lot behind the building, which will pull heat...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)

It might help with some crowding around the platform itself except no one at that platform would be able to get on an actual train since it would be full from people getting on at the current platform. Or... you pull two trains through at a time, one to the far platform and one to the near platform...

Re: Stadium LRT Station, Ped Bridge & Plaza (MSFA block)

Yeah I'm really curious about those wood pieces, I thought they were just support during construction, but they're still there. But also the bridge isn't 100% done yet either. It is still an ugly POS. I am not even sure what the little wood/black points sticking up are supposed to be for. The only ...

I don't have the time and energy to ready the entire EIS, but I can read some (semi)useful reporting on it. The building is just too big for a standard restaurant to use.
If only there were a way to divide a building so that it could be used for more than just one thing.

Part of 27th is vacated in front of rainbow, judging by Hennepin gis. I had no idea that was vacated. Anyone can still drive/bike/walk through there now, though I doubt that many do for practical reasons. It functions more like a "woonerf". The city should reclaim the ROW, but I'm still n...

Unusual hours.

Hopefully with a regrid too.
I'm confused. The former Rainbow Foods building doesn't disrupt the street grid. Neither does it's parking lot. Or do you consider the interrupted alley to be a part of the street grid?

You can always put up a yard sign.

Now that we have strong evidence that a rear taillight is not the reason for the traffic stop, and it seems to be basic racial profiling, I have some questions. http://www.kare11.com/news/police-scanner-audio-1/267042738 Is it legal for cops to lie to people when they pull them over? I suspect that ...

Why is there still a travel lane on the north side of 5th St on this block?
Isn't that the bike connection? I assume they just haven't removed old paint and put down new markings.

... the planters are set aside as a community garden of sorts... I hope this works out. The gardener/optimist in me sees this as a nice opportunity for residents. The realist in me knows from experience that shared garden space is usually either not shared, or quickly becomes a total mess. The cyni...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

The more I look at it, the more that I wish they had used a tunnel to connect the parking to the stadium instead of a skyway. The skyway looks awkward and fragile and it takes away from the large imposing nature of the building.
