Re: New House of Charity Building (7th & Park Ave S.)

I feel like community input is needed on this, but not sure who else to talk to.

Re: New House of Charity Building (7th & Park Ave S.)

I met with Lynn Regnier and have been assured further by Lisa Goodman, as currently presented by House of Charity, the Food Center entrance is moving to 7th.

Re: New House of Charity Building (7th & Park Ave S.)

I met with Elliot Park Neighborhood staff and was told yes these will be torn down and building 5 story, 65 apartments for homeless, with Food Center relocating to 7th St at current F&C entrance. Not saying get rid of anyone, just keep the current Food Center location where it is, not as visible...

Re: New House of Charity Building (7th & Park Ave S.)

The Food Center is moving to 7th St. near Portland. So this scene will move to Portland and 7th if this gets done to their plan. https://www.google.com/maps/@44.972332,-93.263143,3a,50.1y,307.09h,84.4t/data=!3m5!1e1!3m3!1sDBFWp5nm4NXV-bhlHaj8vQ!2e0!5s20140901T000000 Seems like a bad idea for the Por...

Re: New House of Charity Building (7th & Park Ave S.)

"The GIS map of “Elliot Park Affordable Properties” indicates that fully half the household units in the neighborhood can be classified under some
category of “affordable” housing."

Re: North Loop Park

No one expects anyone who grew up in the Midwest to be aware of this, but good urban neighborhoods require good public space. Oak Lake was neither an urban neighborhood nor were its parklets good public space. The reason being that the connections necessary for people to be well informed about loca...

Re: North Loop Park

I always thought people living the north loop liked the dense urban setting, and have access to the river. Residents near 4th St. and 7th Ave are within 6 blocks of the river, but I suppose they feel cut off and should benefit from a linear park providing their access to the river more directly. I d...

Re: Capella Tower & LaSalle Plaza

One example of the variety of lighting used is the Empire State Building. St. Patty's, valentine's, breast cancer, the holidays, pride, dog shows. Not sure how many of these themes Minneapolis will feel like boasting, but having rainbow lights celebrating diversity is already old news here (thx lord...

Re: Capella Tower & LaSalle Plaza

It's too soon to judge the LED lighting. The IDS LEDs are usually white. Just because they CAN make a tie-dyed strobing skyline doesn't mean they are going to. However, I already can't wait for Pride--this skyline is going to turn into a rainbow. So awesome! Saloon block party with LaSalle all lit u...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)

Seanrichardryan--Great example of a lackluster attempt at the right idea. Looking at it w google street view--WOW I hadn't noticed how bad that is. But even if that developer aligned the facades, there still no interesting design features, no real contrast in adjacent facades within that development...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)

Are Italianate etc facades possible to build new anymore? Or is it too expensive for a developer to go high quality faux-historical with varied materials. A simple new 3-4 story stick building, extremely varied in nice stone facades of different styles at correct scale, could give an instant old tow...
