Re: Stanton Condo Building - 516 S. 8th St.
For those complaining about the 3 stories of parking at the base. I'm curious as to how you might suggest something better. I'm honestly curious. The Sexton 1 building is without parking - so Sexton 2 needs to incorporate it. Are you proposing he dig down three levels, or just make the block more pl...

Re: Downtown East / Vikings Stadium LRT Station
You have definite merit in everything you've stated. I too wish we either had more context as to why what you're proposing or wanting isn't a possibility - or I want someone to have the balls to call out Met Council, City of Mpls & MSFC for their inability to think further out. This isn't a new ...

Re: Downtown East / Vikings Stadium LRT Station
so I'm just thinking and I don't know a whole lot, but this is going to become a very busy station right? thearea is going to be filled up with lots of residentialand hotels and some office, plus a park, and people are going to want to check out the new stadium for pictures and such, plus be a main...

Re: 729 Washington Av N
According to the property tax records, Greco only owns 729 Washington and the immediate lot behind that, 728 3rd. Everything else on Washington is owned by other entities.

Re: 729 Washington Av N
Walking by the property yesterday, If the property includes all the parking from the Freeman's parking lot to next door to bunkers that will be a very wide or long building. Do anyone know if this property is just fronting Washington, or does it go all the way back to 3rd? I'm also assuming that th...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
I'm gonna go ahead and cut you guys off there, because I know how this ends (i.e. it doesn't). Let's try to stay on topic of the Orange Line & Lake St Transit Access (including the 35W/TH65 changes too, I guess). There is also a dedicated thread for 35W, for more general comments about that hig...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
What exactly is horrible about our roads and bridges? Um, many of them are literally crumbling. They've had so many asphalt overlays that I'm pretty sure the concrete foundation beneath might possibly be considered historic at this point. I agree that we can't build our way our of congestion - nor ...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
Regarding the initial criticism, my point was that we could be building a better design with roughly the same amount of bridge work and right of way. I'm in full support of that - perhaps writing MNDOT and suggesting something their engineers may have missed wouldn't hurt. A 21st century transporta...

Unless there are physical barriers that FORCE people to use this staircase to another staircase it is going to fail. If the football-game-going populace has a choice between mounting a giant staircase only to descend another one or crossing a street and giving the finger to trains and cars, guess w...

Re: Orange Line (35W BRT) & Lake St Transit Access Project
Disappointed in this newest plan. - Doesn't eliminate the 94 > 35W > 94 weave - Will cause weaving from 35W northbound to 394 westbound across 94 lanes near the tunnel. Better flow with roughly the same scope of work: - combine 94 E/W exits from 35W northbound. Connect to 94 E on the right, in the ...

Not that ramps can't be added to Franklin in the future - but the space is very tight with the upgrades (unbraiding) coming for the 2017-2019 timeframe. Here's a shot of the proposed re-do as 35W approaches downtown and Franklin: https://i.imgur.com/1CDxYZ0.jpg I zoomed in the image of the Franklin ...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
It doesn't matter whether it's reflective, see through, tinted or what have you, I guess the point I was trying to make is that there have been multiple groups or individuals attempting to alter, slow down, or raise another issue surrounding the new Stadium. The Vikings have full control now, they ...

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha LRT)
I also wonder what effect that's had on the Blue Line's ridership, and how much it's been counteracted by losing half of the trips that take place entirely within downtown. There was a Metro Transit employee on my southbound train to MOA this morning (I reverse commute) counting the people getting ...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
I wonder if this has to do with the planned rehab of the bridge in 2015 or 2016?I don't know exactly if this is the right place but they're drilling holes with underwater drills on the base of the central ave bridge. And then they have a scuba diver doing something. Cool to watch along the trail

Isn't the problem that the glass is not reflective and is too see through? I read an article yesterday and I swear it said something like that. Yes, that's precisely the main issue. Re: Downtown East / Vikings Stadium LRT Station
I just a did a quick hack job of a google map in photoshop, laying a center platform station in the 4th Street ROW. I think it could be feasible, if 4th didn't need to still work through there. https://i.imgur.com/N1dwf4O.jpg It's too bad a shallow tunnel couldn't be used for 4th, allowing it to eme...

From the Marq4 webcam, it looks as though they are possibly pouring the foundation for a tower crane for this building.
It's hard to tell from the webcam, as you can't zoom in, but that sure looks like a foundation.

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
Would this work with the tunnel to the new stadium requiring access on 4th? What tunnel? Or did you mean to say "Would this work with a tunnel to the new stadium..."? Also, the land north of the Stadium is not owned by the Metropolitan Sports Facilities Commission or Metropolitan Council....
