Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
I too really think this building would be great if redeveloped. Reminds me of some of the buildings in the North Loop. The canopy/loading dock area would make a great outdoor dining space.

Re: Thresher Square Hotel & Apartments - Washington & Chicag
Happy for another development, but not too excited about the design or extending the skyway. I am longing for days prior to the explosion of developments when architects were really taking some chances on design - Dayton's condo's planned for the Mill District, The Wave where the original Fugia was,...

Re: Developing Nicollet Avenue/Stevens Square
It's actually on the north side of 94 (Loring Park n'hood technically), but since it was discussed in this thread: The Nicollet Diner might finally open at the end of June. http://www.journalmpls.com/news-feed/long-awaited-opening-of-the-nicollet-diner-scheduled-for-end-of-june Great news! I hope t...

Re: Andrews Hotel site (4th & Hennepin)
Hennepin should complement and there is no excuse for empty store fronts. The empty Chevys Tex Mex is just unexcusable. That is such a great location. I have to believe that's partly because of the long-dead Block e on the same corner. That or the building owner is asking for unreasonable rent, or ...

Re: Downtown Retail News
Super! The flagship Walgreens are super nice and the company doesn't seem to spare expense on quality design/materials. I've been to several in Chicago - the one on State, in Boystown and one in Wicker Park which was formerly a bank. The current Walgreens on Nicollet is so out-dated. Hopefully they ...

Minneapolis Sculpture Garden
Very happy that the Sculpture Garden and Cowles Conservatory were awarded $8.5 million in state money for renovations. From the sounds of it - will be infrastructure improvements - lighting, irrigation, probably replacement of trees, etc. Still last time I walked through was staring to looked tired ...

Re: The Pedestrianization of 29th Street
Hopefully, either way, would be nice if future developments on the south side of the greenway are designed to be pedestrian friendlier on all sides including fronting 29th and the greenway. Maybe 29th could be curbless like the new Nicollet plans to be.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
I just sent an email requesting that any future redesign/rebuild of Nicollet Mall reincorporate the loon water fountain, the granite sculptures in front of U.S. Bank, the clock by Peavy and the benches/seats recently re-installed across from the library.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
I'm debating if this should be in the Nicollet Mall or Downtown Retail thread... Hear me out and move if you think it should be somewhere else. Today as I went out from my office in LaSalle Plaza to eat at a food truck along Marquette, I saw that it was also Farmer's Market day on Nicollet Mall. I'...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Urban Planning
10th and 11th Avenue South were several nice streets with larger, well maintained older houses. Several had signs indicating they belonged to North Central.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Urban Planning
Did a bit more walking around Elliot Park and am really starting to like the neighborhood for the historic building aspect. More old brownstones/brick apartment buildings than I thought. Also walked around the North Central College area and came across several streets of what were obviously single f...

Re: The Eclipse
I know a lot of people here would be happy if it never saw the light of day. Let's hope he sells the parcel and someone swoops in with some great vision for what this corner needs. Happy to hear it probably won't happen. This parcel calls for a more architecturally ambitious proposal than just dupl...

Here is a new photo showing the Yard with a giant tent over it for the Super Bowl. Also includes the parking ramp hotel. https://twitter.com/seifertespn/status/468889226357276672 Don't like the idea of having a tent over the entire park. The idea should be to showcase the city and show the world it...

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
Also, the Park Board in recent history has been a badly managed, parochial organization that's been coasting on the good work done a century ago. I really don't trust them to be the lead on this park. Sadly I agree. With the exception of a few projects - Mills Ruins and RiverFirst. But RiverFirst s...

Re: Downtown Retail News
They've been off for well over a year now. The interior of Gaviidae I is one of the most beautiful buildings downtown. I hope they're not gone for good. The level of custom detailing and finishes is still amazing 20 some years later. It will never be able to be replicated and it is one of Cesar Pel...

Okay so back to the Target Field Station Really think it's a beaut! The granite relief artworks is beautiful and the landscaping is well done. Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
http://www.startribune.com/local/blogs/259824531.html d I think this is the way to go. Re: Downtown Retail News
Have it on good authority that the loon fountain and fountain on the ground floor in Gaviidae are going to be removed due to rusty piping. Ugh. Also - I noticed that City Center added a nice new sign at the skyway entrance when you're crossing rom Gaviidae.
