Re: Nicollet Ave, Lake St to Crosstown (Lyndale, Kingfield, Tangletown & Windom)
Finally, construction has started at 3329 Nicollet Ave. This is for the the live/work townhouses and apartments. Will be curious to see how the townhouses lease up. I think the developer said at a neighborhood meeting that they would rent for under $3,000 a month. Foundation is done. They started i...

Re: Thrivent Headquarters Block - 6th St and Portland Ave
Haven't people been asking that question the past 3-4 years? Unless the economy goes into a deep recession, I doubt there will be a sustained downturn in the level of development that's been happening. There are plenty of national developers that have the cash to keep things moving. High constructio...

Re: OX-OP Gallery and Residences.
Right!? I actually like each color, but they don't look good together.Red and orange??? The developer is definitely picking these cladding materials. I hope to god an architect didn't.

Re: Nicollet Mall
I, too, am disappointed in the monochromatic look of the new Mall. Somehow, not the lanterns nor the chairs nor the light walk nor even the trees are sufficient to overcome the overwhelming grayness. However, I'd like to imagine this is fixable. Rather than throw up our hands and give into regret, ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
That's a lot of parking but a much lower ratio than what Stanton wanted in Eclipse (if memory serves me right). All underground is great as well. Excited to see how it looks.

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan
So basically the plan is going to be scaled back a ton and as a result we are going to see almost all new development where it's already been occurring: uptown, downtown, north loop, NE, and along the blue and green lines.

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan
I can see why people would be upset: thinking that their property will depreciate if/when the city allows a bunch of renters and absentee landlords put up four-plexus on their block. Linden Hills and Kenwood aren't going get poor people. They're going to get slightly less affluent people who are ha...

Re: Minneapolis 2040 Comprehensive Plan
I've read way too many Nextdoor threads on the 2040 Plan, many from homeowners in Linden Hills and Southwest. They'll use anything to justify why the plan is bad. There is a deep fear of change plus a sense that because they "worked harder" to be able to live in these neighborhoods, they s...

Re: Nicollet Ave / Eat Street - Whittier, Stevens, Loring Park
Speaking of the Nicollet Burger King, I want to put something cool in the parking lot for open streets this year. Any thoughts? I'm considering getting the wrestling they had on Lyndale. Also, does anyone know what's up with this? Are developers still sniffing around or is BK gonna do something? No...

Re: Nicollet-Central Streetcar
Just adding some thoughts on the Tucson experience. While ridership is pathetic (it always was going to be), I think it is a solid test case for streetcars being a catalyst for development. There has been a considerable level of development along the Sunlink (especially for Tucson standards). This i...

Re: Arterial Bus Rapid Transit Corridors
Even if a street car wasn't allegedly still on the table, I don't think anything meaningful would happen on Nicollet/Central until the K-Mart is gone. Since Sear's/Kmart's death looks more imminent by the day, it is an even more attractive reason why we should just wait before doing anything. Truly ...

Check out the photobomb from Fluffy the Dragon on pg. 27 http://www.minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/public/@cped/documents/webcontent/wcmsp-211342.pdf Very nice to see this happening! Re: Latest Census Estimates and Met Council Projections
The more I read about it the more worried I get. We're much better off than Japan or China, but it's still going to be a pretty big drag. I'm thinking growth will be pretty elusive over the next 20 years. Does anybody have a reality check? Am I worrying about nothing? Even in nations like Japan/Chi...

Some flower beds/planter boxes would make a big impact. Also, while most of the birches have budded, some are definitely dead. Counted about 6 of them this morning. Sad.
