Re: Downtown Minneapolis Urban Planning

If ADM does relocate here, which would be HUGE get for region, I would guess they would lease the space they need in the southwest metro.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

I know Woofner was actually proposing a deep bore tunnel, and while I actually very much appreciate and agree with the arguments that he's made in favor of it, I do remain very skeptical of his budget numbers. I'm not sure the numbers from the SWLRT folks were any more robust -- they seemed to base...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

I, at least, agree with it. I've never used the trail, I'll admit, and I'm sure it is very nice. But no bike trail is nice enough to be worth spending $100,000,000 to save that short of a section.

Thank you, you have stated it better than I could.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

I think the only convincing reason is that adjacent homes might find an elevated trail excessively ugly to look out at, ruining land values. And that too. If its ugly to look at it's probably ugly to ride on. Heck we can even build you a pretty bridge for you to ride on and still same some money co...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

Has anyone come up with a good reason why we shouldn't just relocated/elevate/whatever the bike trail and save $100 million? Because it's a horrible idea. Have you ever ridden a bike on a elevated trail above BOTH freight rail (cough, cough) and LRT (very frequent and pretty fast)? It really doesn'...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

Am I the only person who is completely sick of the pissing matching between Minneapolis and St. Louis Park. They have been focused on collaboration and consensus building and talking and studying for three years now and all it has done is drive up the price by hundreds of millions of dollars. The lo...

Re: Grand & Finn Apartments - (2124 Grand Avenue)

The area around St. Thomas has become NIMBY central. The neighborhood literally opposes every possible student housing idea presented. Students can't live off campus in single family housing because of sex, drugs, and rock & roll. Developers can't build new mixed use buildings or apartments off ...

Re: Vikings Stadium

This is the product ("Mediamesh") that is being installed on the front of the stadium atop the triangular spire. http://www.gkdmediamesh.com/ Cool stuff, too bad they aren't covering the entire face of the spire in it. I agree, to me the current one looks small and dinky compared to the G...
