Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map

I'd assume for fire code' If the is a fire in one stair case you have a second as backup. Even as small as it is, I would say that still holds true.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

Planning commission today on an 8-0 vote said no to the Viking Way. Still needs to go before the full council, but I'm hoping that this is the end of this silly renaming games.

Re: New Kraus-Anderson HQ (9th St. S/5th Ave. S)

I'm looking forward to seeing the construction fences going up around this block. Curious to see if they start working on the 8th street side and work their way towards 8th. This would allow for the Portland to get as much work done before they have to squeeze the traffic lanes down. Hope they have ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

Will be glad to see this building renovated. Will be nice to see the full windows on the east side replaced as they really take away from the beauty if this building. Hope that this flies and does not get bogged down.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

Easiest way to solve this is to take a page from the Vikings play book. They want their name on the street, The we can have naming rights of say 3/4 to a mil every five years to have their way. It would be only appropriate. Or we give them the change and the city get all the cash from the advertisin...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News

Well at least they will add a bit of class to that fugly face on Nicollet. Can't wait to see them up and above the windows. Anyone know if Shorenstein sold the retail section of CC. or did they take it off the market? Have not heard much about it's status. Also, what is the vacancy rate for the reta...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

Nathan, I think that I have always stated why I'm against some aspects of the give me give me of the Vikings. I like having the stadium. I'm and others are just tired of the several trips thru the soup line that the Vikings seem to want to take to get more for nothing. The street was Chicago all thr...

Re: Franklin and Chicago

There is one where that store burned down a year or two ago, at like 25th or 26th. I know there are others two, But I think that one is the largest and would make for a nice retail with apartments over mix use. There are a few closer to Franklin that could be redeveloped also.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

Did not even know that the Wilf's were Jewish, But I'm not keen on people who are given yard and then look to get a mile out of the deal. I have no problem with the stadium deal, but the over need for Commons time and the MSFA is pure BS and if they really wanted to get out from under this deluge of...

Re: MSP Airport

MSP has a new website covering upcoming improvements: http://reimaginemsp.com/ Thanks much for that link. Very interesting. Wonder what their latest start date is on the hotel for it to be open in Jan of 18 in time for the Superbowl. Would think that they would want to be open by Nov of 17 so that ...

^^^ No fan is going to stop coming to MPLS to football games if the name is not changed. So there is no real reason other than vanity for us to let the street be renamed.

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

But they effectively own the park for at least a third of the days in a year. A third of the days is 122. They own the park for 122 days? Where did you get that number? I quoted 40 as that is what the Wilf's wanted when they were still in the fray for the soccer team which they no longer have acces...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

Most entrepreneurs build on a business with their own money and some borrowed money. So most would not define PSL and naming rights as real sources of borrowing. Again someone else's money is paying for the stadium and you are not paying them back with interest like others who borrow money do. You a...

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project

At this point everything on the mall is replacing sewer and water, communication lines, Internet and tv cables, or your basic infrastructure. So you are seeing a lot of patches of that beautiful "Premium Asphalt" in with the granite pavers. Streets, sidewalks will be tore up and replaced o...

Just need to raise the tax rate on tear down parking lots. Walked by there last weekend, and All I can say is they do NOT need that much space for parking, Unless they plan on it looking like a 3 rate used car lot. Maxwell's should get after the city if it starts to look junky. All of us should get ...

Almost all of the windows are in now, so this is moving along nicely.
Should easily be open before football season starts when they will have weekends booked. I'm sure those research buildings will have some guests that stay there also during the week days.

Re: Legacy Condominiums - 121 12th Ave S

To the best of my knowledge the height restriction ends at 11th street. East of 11th I don't think there are any real restrictions. But the Mill District which ends at 11th does have height restrictions. How the Encore got the extra floors I'm not sure. But due to it being on 11th they probably gave...

Re: Westminster Church

I have no problem with the sanctuary itself not being taxed. But when churches own other property that is not a part of the worship. Office buildings, schools, and parking lots. They need to pay for the same services and maintenance of the street that their members use. Look at how much untaxed land...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

When the Viking Queens win at least a Superbowl then they can make such requests. The Twins actually won two World Series with Kirby Puckett so that make it meaningful. The Queens have not done anything meaningful yet in their franchise history except to blackmail us into a new stadium.
