Re: Interstate 94
I saw some folks discussing an important point about Rethinking 94 that I hadn't considered yet: if a "Twin Cities Boulevard" conversion is the way this goes (which I think is a low-likelihood anyway,) it could actually be worse for the urban fabric than a freeway. Think of how huge a bar...

Neighbor's appeal denied, rezoning approved. Committee vote is 4-0. Goodman and Rainville absent. This goes forward to the next meeting of the full City Council. Re: Minneapolis City Politics General Discussion
The Minneapolis City Council today voted to not move rent stabilization to the November ballot while 3 Muslim council members were out due to Eid.
They could have easily moved to vote to the next city council meeting, this is truly the most insensitive thing this city council majority has ever done.

I went off the address I was able to find for the development, hmmmm.I believe Shelby Commons is actually using the parcel north of Glenwood, and east of the highway overpass, marked on the map above with the red 'pin.'

oh wow, I do wonder if we will try again for 2031.Apparently Serbia's victory is coming as a total surprise to those who were involved in the MN-US bid. All along this was thought to be a close contest between the US and Spain (Malaga), but that the US would prevail.

NYT has an article about Rome’s bid for the 2030 World’s Fair, which led me to looking up the one we’re bidding for here. Turns out the vote is in two days. So there’s that. https://www.bloomingtonmn.gov/port/expo-2027 Fingers crossed, it would be great for that area of Bloomington and draw in alot...

Major station construction has started on the east of Hiawatha to downtown St PaulHave they constructed the bus rapid transit stations yet? I know they built the one over at the midtown light rail station a while ago.

Nextdoor is a cesspool, nothing should be considered serious on there.Construction on Lake Street is officially underway. The 4-3 conversion is not going over well on Nextdoor.

Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail
Was the study to Savage passed? I don't recall the entirety of Dakota County being against Dan Patch, just Lakeville, even though a station in their downtown could bring a big boost of visitors without more car traffic. The study bill hasn't passed yet. And according to Rep Jess Hansen, Burnsville ...

Re: Northern Lights Express
Assuming the extra dollars go to purchasing trainsets, in lieu of renting, does that effectively reduce the ongoing operating costs? I'm hoping they can leverage that into either lower fares, or banking an operational profit margin to pay for future (speed) improvements. Lower fares are needed. Wit...

The Red Line 147th St Station received 7 million in the Transportation Omnibus bill to build a skyway between the northbound and southbound platforms.
All I can think of is what a waste of 7 million dollars.

You must mean a phased opening running from SW Station to 21st St? For one thing, I don't think there is an OMF that could maintain the vehicles on that segment of tracks independently. Furthermore, I think the new vehicles are to be delivered near the Franklin station and there won't be a way to p...

Which bus routes will be included in the free fare pilot? The Transportation finance and policy bill includes “sec. 122 TRANSIT FARE ELIMINATION PILOT PROGRAM” where the metropolitan council must select two bus routes to include in a free fare pilot. I was hoping to see at least some later LRT trips added, even if there's not enough operators yet to do improved daytime frequencies. I thought the move to allowing people to become LRT operators directly instead of working their way up through the bus ranks would have a bigger effect. LRT hired 20...
