That wouldn't work with their timeline, that's when they want to open.Construction is unlikely to begin before 2019.

Re: Amazon's New HQ?
I was responding to this part of your message, not the creativity part. Amazon intends these proposals to be made in a vacuum so cities can't yes-and each other.Maybe we'll get some more details on our proposal in the next couple weeks

Part of the RFP is that they are to be kept confidential, so probably not.

Re: Amazon's New HQ?
Also, it wouldn't just be adding 50,000 jobs to Amazon. It would also make us a magnet for companies that want to poach Amazon talent.
Similar to Amazon setting up an office in T3 in the first place - they're out to poach top Target talent.

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
It does, however, indicate we're getting a half block with an exposed skyway a la their existing building, or a full block development.
I'm not particularly excited about either of those prospects.

Re: Van White station area plan
The thing I dislike most about this plan is how many times they have to clarify that anything involving the Impound Lot is "long term, if it moves." As long as it's there, it's going to depress the area.

Re: 1500 Nicollet Avenue - Dominium Development - 6 stories / 184 units
A more immediate solution would be to vacate the ROW and move the fence under the condition that the developer allow public access to the central courtyard, where pedestrian traffic could pass through. This would pretty much eliminate the problem and remove MNDOT from having to actually do something...

So not a defensive driver, eh? When driving I expect everybody to do everything wrong - so I'm never surprised. As a motorist I expect all vehicles to obey all rules and regulations.

Re: 1500 Nicollet Avenue - Dominium Development - 6 stories / 184 units
Interesting piece in the package from CLPC: CLPC also encourages the Developer to work with MNDOT to clean up and maintain the MNDOT owned property adjacent to the Development, as well as on the other side of the fence. This area attracts Public drinking, loitering, and low level crime. We wish for ...

Re: Transitways in other Minnesota cities?
Duluth could build a cable car system to serve as a less right-of-way intensive alternative to a funicular. It would look great on the tourist brochures.

Re: Thrivent's Surface Parking Lots
I imagine whomever at Thrivent who knows answers to all our questions and speculation would be entertained reading this forum. Especially, if even with downsizing they're planning on building something we'll appreciate. From my experience at a previous job where our work was critiqued on forums, ge...

Re: Thrivent's Surface Parking Lots
Something like the KA block might be the best we can hope for. I hope it's a project that is able to further connect the Downtown core to Downtown East. Maybe with green space and skyways? A nice public atrium might be nice. I just hope Thrivent is told "Nope, try again" multiple times li...

Re: Zoning in Minneapolis
And why limit where industrial can go? How about don't limit industrial itself, but put weight limits on the roads, strict air pollution guidelines, and other regulations. That way you're shaping the kinds of industrial developments that are allowed and it'll only make sense for certain, low impact...

Re: Thrivent's Surface Parking Lots
There's a difference between building based on speculative demand and building to meet existing demand.

Re: City of Minneapolis Offices Consolidation
Also, lol at a block-long 10-story building being referred to as a tower. So do you guys purposefully forget that construction costs rise exponentially as a building gets taller, or is that news here? I want to see denser and higher quality development as much as the next person, but I also don't w...

Re: City living trends and predictions
Does the article go into any sort of time frame or is it just a vague "This may happen eventually" sort of deal?
Because on a long enough speculative time frame we might not need them for a multitude of reasons.
