Re: Presidential Election 2016

Here to note that the next Democratic debate is on a Saturday evening on the weekend before Christmas, which is also the big star wars premier weekend. Most people won't watch the debate, and most people who do will see it through the filter of the establishment media.

Re: Road Crime

Essentially ditto what Grant said, we had one last year with similar problems, though luckily no one was hurt. I wouldn't be surprised to see school districts cracking down on them given the news.

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.

So I went a more primary-ish source, and It's pretty certain that a portion of the group was there a second time and were in fact involved, though no clear confirmation about the cop infiltrator thing. There is also allegedly video footage of whatever happened, so we should be able to get some clear...

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLmWa4t_AGg So apparently the channers' visit was 4 days before the shooting (and they apparently got kicked out?), so the two events may or not be directly related, and it seems things are getting blended together a bit. Since this occured before the shooting, their ...

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.

Wow, you really outdid yourself with that absurd slippery slope fallacy there. Well done!
I see you have no actual rebuttal.

Do you then agree that using "percieved safety" (also known as "feelings") as an excuse to abridge our fundamental rights is indefensible?

Re: Black Lives Matter, The Police, etc.

The protestors also have a right to their own safety. I don't know about you, but I put that as a more fundamental right than just about any other. False choice fallacy. The people with skin in the game don't seem to think so. I would take it you are also in favor of the Patriot Act, and everything...

Re: Presidential Election 2016

That was an interesting debate. I was worried Bernie could have gotten creamed on foreign policy, considering the Paris attack and all, but it seemed like Hillary got a walloping. While one could expect Hillary's use of women donors as a shield for her record on wall street, I can't believe she used...

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)

My thought exactly. Just by reading through the documents that were posted so far, I think they are not at the stage of actually doing any cost-benefit analysis yet. As soon as we have some numbers and dollar signs to talk about, CP Spur+W 7th St hybrid alignment will look much attractive. (I am ac...

Re: Rumors!

I actually just heard from a friend that Ecolab has plans to start building supertalls in St. Paul. Ecolab just discovered a free-energy generating technology and now they'll need a bunch of burj khalifas worth of office and residential space for their expected growth. Here's a leaked rendering whos...

So I refreshed myself on this/checked up on it (NLX), though there doesn't seem to be anything new (sorry for those of you who hoped that little red paper meant an update). http://abcnewspapers.com/2015/05/15/planning-continues-for-northern-lights-express/ The environmental work is expected to be co...

I just heard the maplewood bowling alley was recently demolished for this: https://www.sherman-associates.com/news/2015/08/phase-i-is-underway-villages-at-frost-english-in-maplewood/ The team will begin construction next week on the creation of fifty units of rental housing, forty of which are affor...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minnesota

Even 20k in a state of 5 million is pushing it. Does anyone really think 0.37% of Minnesotans know what soccer is, much less want to watch some stupid Europoor sport live? We live in America, not commiefornia. (/sarcasm, just to be safe)

I'd love to hear how expandable they'd like to make it, though.

I wasn't entirely sure where to put this ("The High Cost of Subsidized Driving", anyone?), but this thread seems like a decent enough fit. I just ran across this [new] article, which is worth the read: http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2015/10/driving-true-costs/412237/ A report ...

Re: Presidential Election 2016

A little too late to edit this into the last post. The issue so far: http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2015-10-16/insurrection-erupts-at-the-democratic-national-committee I predict a return of the #FireTheChair hashtag, and with good reason. Beyond Rybak being from Minnesota, he's right, an...
