Re: MSP Airport
No, UA either has the E175s which run 2 a day in winter and shoulder season. The 3 a day schedule is a mix of 2 x E175 and 1 mainline or more rarely 1 x E175 and 2 mainline. UA doesn't have any CRJ-900s. The E175 is great, with a high ratio of first:economy it's good for upgrades and at 2:2 in the b...

Re: Prospect Park - General Topics
As a resident I say this lovingly about my neighbors: they are full of good ideas for historic re-use that is probably economically unviable.

Re: Driver testing
Thanks all, this is starting to cohere as a picture of not very rigorous road testing.
The Truman Show style off-road facility is an abomination for testing people's driving skills. It's like giving people their pilot's license based on simulator training only.

Driver testing
The recent discussions about pedestrian safety have made me think about this. When I did my driver road test in MN I had been driving for 10 years (on the other side of the road, admittedly) so I'm not sure what a truly new driver gets here. What I experienced for my MN road test was a 10 minute cir...

Re: Alatus St. Anthony Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site)
That was my thought too -- there's already a 41 story tower right by this bridge and in this historic district. If anything another one on the other side would enhance the skyline.

We were told at meeting that Espresso Expose and Big 10 are exiting. The others are still deciding.

This group visited the Prospect Park Zoning & Project Review committee last night, and the committee was very proposed. It's outside Prospect Park, but it's the closest neighborhood. On a committee that includes several architects and which has been constructively critical of quite a lot of prop...

Re: MSP Airport
Per MPR "only about two dozen people a day from the Twin Cities fly that route" People will have to connect in other places like Seattle or San Francisco, and (horrors!) maybe on other airlines, if they want one-stop flights to wherever they were going after Tokyo. http://www.mprnews.org/s...

Re: Car Sharing / Rental (Car2Go, HourCar, etc.)
Can't say many will find this convenient. Driving the xtra distance to Terminal 2 will cost more + the $7.50 charge, then the train back to Terminal 1 if you're at Terminal 1. It's not at all hard to park close to 46th or 50th or VA stations, walk 100 yards to the train for no fee, and then get stra...

Re: MSP Airport
Decent discussion of the issues here http://www.airliners.net/aviation-forums/general_aviation/read.main/6598129/ Japan has never been a big supporter of liberalizing air service agreements, so this could drag on for a while before anything is resolved, or not. Delta could clearly make their route n...

Really depends which happens first
i) Delta repairs its toasted relationship with Korean
ii) Shanghai makes international-to-international transfers easier (still an immigration check).

Re: MSP Airport
Delta reminds us that MSP-NRT relies on connections ex-NRT, by mentioning dropping MSP-NRT if Haneda is opened up.

Re: RISE at Prospect Park - 2929 University Ave SE
I think it's worth noting some of the significance of this project. It's 14 stories non-stick construction, and not aiming at a student market. They are providing < 1 parking space per unit, once you account for the parking "dedicated" for the grocery store. Now, sure, it could be lower bu...
