Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
Does anyone know when MT is planning to switch their testing to revenue service schedule? I was hoping to see more actions today since they just updated Blue Line schedule last weekend. Green line service begins June 14 I meant testing in revenue schedule (testing every 10mins), not the opening dat...

I am fine with tagging at the doors as long as we can do all-door boarding.
You can buy tickets at a TVM before boarding if paying with cash, or validate Go-To cards at doors when boarding.

--Agreed. I've been looking at the traffic on Washington Ave for couple hours now, sitting at the Starbucks next to East Bank station. I've never seen this section of Washington Ave this vibrant in this weather. Traffic didn't seem too crazy, except lots of pedestrians attempting mid-block crossings...

Re: Northstar
Seems like the mayor of St. Cloud has some opinions on the location of potential St. Cloud Northstar station. Mayor Dave Kleis is interested in studying the Amtrak station off East St. Germain Street, largely because he sees the station as a way to attract new development to industrial (and aging) S...

There is also a thought that automated cars would dramatically increase travel demands, too. Think of all those empty cars on their ways to pick up their owners! There is a thought that automated cars would increase the capacity of freeways substantially by eliminating bad driver behavior.

Re: Twin Cities Underground Rail
There seems to be little interest in elevated systems. Does Minneapolis/St. Paul have density/ridership that would justify a big dig? Not really an elevated system, but I would be very much interested to see something on I-35W ROW (Yes, the Orange Line.) and on 394 ROW. Something like Chicago's Dan...

<rant> - Service now projected to begin in 2019. While I understand there are complex steps we need to follow and lots of jobs need to be done to 'build' this project, but I still don't think I quite understand why it should take 5-6 years to make this happen. (And cost, too!) Why is it so hard to m...

My first attempt : http://streetmix.net/jonathan_ahn/1/s-washington-ave This is a lot harder than I expected. Some thoughts I put into the plan: 1. For me, Washington Ave is a major thru-traffic corridor. Let's put more bus routes, but I don't imagine having streetcars/LRT on Washington Ave at this ...

I also had a really similar idea for a while---cheap and easy (while questionable) solution to extend Greenway Streetcar (only if ever built) from East Lake-Midtown Blue Line station to U of M - Dinkytown - Marcy-Holmes and Hennepin-1st Ave NE for future Nicollet-Central streetcar connection. Wouldn...
