Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
https://www.metrotransit.org/Data/Sites/1/media/metro-orange-line/appendix-k---2015-orange-line-ridership-modeling.pdf Keep in mind this is from 2015 and is projected ridership for 2040. South Bloomington TC and Heart of the City/Travelers Trail are projected to have around 1,000 daily riders each. ...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
The very first deviation from the national standard of far side stoplights is not going to happen here and I don't want to see it here because of how often a truck stopped in front of me would block my view of the lights. I am fine with a no turn on red considering the number of crashes (including ...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
Meh. While something like this would modestly improve run time, it's going to significantly worsen the experience for riders who are making connections or using the park-and-ride here. I think the impulse to ensure bus priority through here is the right way to go. I'm not sure what ridership projec...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
Isn't the 98th Street bridge over 35W going to be replaced in the not-too-distant future? I would hope they'll take into account speeding up the travel time for southbound Orange Line buses and making the crossing on the bridge by foot and bike much safer and easier.

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
Not a huge update but the Orange Line platforms at South Bloomington Transit Center appear to be substantially complete. The screens that will show real-time bus arrivals are on, but it just shows a blank screen with "No Signal" for now. No ticket vending machines yet. Just looked at the ...

Just goes to show that BRT can get the same extreme NIMBYism as light rail.

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Do I hate farmers? No I do not. But I stand by my claim that the value of what's getting shipped over the TC&W is not, in the big picture, that great. Even so, I wasn't suggesting that they should stop shipping it. I was suggesting that using political leverage to convince them that they could ...

Re: B Line Lake St Rapid Bus, Midtown Rail Transit
My comment: It appears B Line buses will use the turnaround/terminal at Lake Street & France Avenue on the Minneapolis-St. Louis Park border. I don't understand why this is not identified as a station location. This is a high-density residential area, with hundreds of additional housing units t...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
TC&W was never going to accept a reroute, especially the poorly planned one on the Dan Patch Line through St. Louis Park. We're not talking about the Great Northern transcon here. This is a tiny railroad shipping low volumes of low value commodities. The fact that we let them dictate terms over...

Anyone know what bus route served this shelter and when it was last used?

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Y'all will disagree, but the root of this problem wasn't the selection of the Kenilworth Corridor as the preferred route for the LRT, it was the failure to kick the freight rail out. If they'd played their cards right with the TC&W, SWLRT would be running at grade on cheap ballasted track throu...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Wow! This project is so depressing and frustrating. There are so few resources to build good transit, and the funding that is available is being wasted on an expensive tunnel and wall that do nothing to improve service. At this point would it be cheaper to buy out the TC&W and/or the townhouses...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Is there anyway that the train could be built to be operational from west lake station to eden prairie? And maybe extending to the farmers market from target field. With the B Line opening in 2024. There would still be a solid connection to the rest of the city's transit albeit much slower the the ...

Re: C Line - Penn Avenue North Rapid Bus
Having experienced trolley buses in Bergen, Norway and Budapest, Hungary (also Boston, but the Silver Line is not the way to go to implement BRT for several reasons) I supported using trolley buses for our aBRT routes back when the A Line was beginning construction. The powers that be however just d...

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)
While all of their arguments are dumb (and almost certainly rooted in bigotry/fear), IMHO it would be absolutely fine if this BRT service ended at the Maplewood Mall P&R, with slightly less frequent local service extending into White Bear Lake. I’m very curious what percentage of the total cons...

Re: Purple Line BRT (Rush Line Corridor)
If Greg Lees thinks 89 buses per day is awful wait until he hears about this thing called cars, which there are around 26,000 going through Downtown White Bear Lake on Highway 61 everyday (based on 2019 traffic data from MnDOT). Also I'm curious what he means by "the crap that comes with it (BR...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
From a walking and biking perspective there's no doubt Washington Avenue is better than before the Green Line was built. From a transit operations standpoint though it's slow, lots of potential conflicts with pedestrians, bikers, and to a lesser extent cars. Also not sure if this is still the case o...
