Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
Wasn't there supposed to be a protected lane here? What happened to that?

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I know they do. I've complained countless times around the University, and many Sundays they just don't come. I'll get a response the next day stating that the vehicle is gone upon arrival. Well, yeah, it's a day later and no one even bothered to check the day before. I just try and confront people...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
The Blaisdell lines are not finished, right? And are the Nicollet lanes finished? The lines are so haphazard, sometimes there and sometimes not between the bike lane and parked cars. Also I was biking on 15th Ave SE yesterday and between 6th and 8th, parked cars entirely filled the bike lanes on bo...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
46th St project is happening second week of September. I think they are planning to overlay right through the Nicollet intersection, as I know there has been discussion about how this Nicollet/46th St intersection would look (and I forget the final configuration). My hope was for a three lane profi...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I was driving that section of Nicollet over the weekend and was thinking that bike lanes would be good. Bravo to this.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
With our support, Hennepin County has applied for a $650k federal grant to improve accessibility along the 46th St corridor... things like ADA ramps, APS at signals that need it, and some refuge median / RRFB work. This won't happen as part of the mill and overlay project in September, but it's bei...

Plenty of neighborhood parks are semi-deserted on any given day.

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
I think just having green space downtown is nice and you don't have to have any real programming to have a decent park.

Re: Litmus test for whether you're a terrible person or not
I see it all the time on Washington around Marquette/2nd/3rd. It's crazy. I also saw a guy block the light rail once, I had to get off my bike and help guide him to back up and then turn into the other lane because he couldn't figure it out for some reason. We need more cops directing traffic downto...

Re: Litmus test for whether you're a terrible person or not
Pretty fair test.
Particularly egregious example: I was riding my bike home from work down Portland and at the intersection with 7th street a driver actually enters the intersection from behind the crosswalk after the light turns red and blocks the box. Just wait ya dingus.

Re: White Castle and Holiday at Central & Hennepin
So we have one yes vote from the neighborhood here. How many no votes from people in the neighborhood? I assume you're talking about the Holiday on Broadway and I-35W, and the SuperAmerica on Broadway. These look large enough to be viable so they're not likely to close, but can they handle the addi...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
Minneapolis has a puzzling paucity of drug stores. In downtown DC there was a CVS on literally every block in the vicinity of my office. For any drug store need I have to go to Nicollet Mall, which isn't always easy. If I lived in North Loop I'd be pretty annoyed by that. I think our urban neighbor...

Re: 66th Street - Richfield
I drove along this today and saw that some of the houses had been demolished. Are they planning to cut all those trees down too? Some really nice oaks and and a couple pines along there. Would be a shame to see them go. Unfortunately, most of them have to go -- the roadway will be shifted significa...

Re: Southside - General Topics
Ah yes I have the site plans for that if you want me to email them. Basically the developer is proposing to re-plat it as two new SFHs. One of the lots will require some slight variances for setback, but the two lots will be extremely similar to "regular SFH lots" oriented towards 5th Ave...

Anyone know what's happening at 412 E 48th Street? There's a small commercial building there (looks empty) that has something about a variance to adjust the lot boundaries posted on it. Applicant listed seems to be some kind of housing builder.

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
When will North Loop get some banks/ATMs moving in? In a very affluent neighborhood like this, I find it surprising that there's not much more than a Sunrise Bank. Some of you may disagree with me, but it would be nice to see at least some ATMs for the major banks. Wells Fargo, US Bank, TCF, BoA, e...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Took the 14 home from work one night and a woman gets on at one block, rides to the next block, gets off. Makes no sense. I just can't take local routes anymore, I'd rather walk to the express downtown and then walk a little further home from the 46th street station. I keep meaning to try to take t...
