Re: U.S. Bank Stadium Construction Updates

Ha. That joke totally went over my head.

Here's a page where I've chronicled downtown east for the past few years. I'm planning on putting this together as a book at some point.

I've been surprised by this one. It's definitely coming together. Here's a pic from a week or so back.

Re: Minnesota Transportation Funding (General)

Intercomnut, Were you in the meeting with Rep. Dehn? If so, I didn't get his response to my question on offering outstate MN a carrot. I'd think the Duluths, St. Clouds and Rochesters (well, their counties) of the state have plenty of tax base to serve their transit needs to a certain extent. Now th...

What about New Market? It has a solidly intact historic core, but then sprawls out towards Elko.

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Municipal consent was approved 9-3. Yang, Cano and Gordon were the no votes, though other council members voiced continued concerns with the 6 lane cross-section. Even if it was only a protest vote, I'm proud of Blong today.

Re: Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board

The changes that have been made to Wirth have brought life to the park. When I moved to north, 6 years ago now, the park was very sleepy. I'd like some of that newfound energy to extend north of GVR. It's a regional park and doesn't see the same funding issues as the neighborhood parks that are actu...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Thomas Siburg, the director of urban planning and asset development for Redeemer Center for Life, Redeemer Lutheran Church's non-profit satellite, said the church will file a federal complaint against MnDOT claiming it is in violation of rules that require transportation projects not discriminate a...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Redeemer Lutheran Church, who also happen to run the Venture North bike shop, will file a federal suit if MNDOT doesn't make changes to lane count and pedestrian accessibility. https://www.minnpost.com/politics-policy/2016/02/embracing-lrt-how-one-minneapolis-neighborhood-plans-have-major-impact-blue-

Wrong Johnson, VacantLuxuries. Andrew not Barb is on TPW. Anyways, most of Barb's ward stops at Lowry and only a sliver goes to 24th Avenue N.

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

What exactly does the City of Minneapolis have to lose by denying municipal consent here? This is the more pertinent question instead of blaming Yang. I'll repeat what I said on Twitter last night. The county, Met Council and MNDOT are compounding a bad alignment and not fixing the one redeeming as...

Agreed, but it's just not in his character. He's much more likely to work with city staff or an outside agency, build consensus with constituents and then publicly support something. That's what he's done with housing inspections, the vacant home recycling program and the rebuild of 26th Ave N that ...

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Blong wanted the lane reduction. He fought for it behind the scenes. I know this because I actually talked to him about it. He doesn't believe MNDOT can be swayed. I don't agree with rolling over at your best opportunity to get what you want, but the rest of TPW had the opportunity to not recommend ...

My guess would be that they're saving that half for future development.
It's a fifth or a sixth of the block. There will be no room for anything except, maybe, row houses.

Re: "C Line" Penn Avenue aBRT & Community Works Project

It's labeled as Olson and 7th Street. The removal of the Victory Memorial and Osseo station is the worst part of the plan. That is not a major trip generator, but it is a key destination along the route. It's also an important connection back to the Penn/Osseo/44th intersection (No stop there due to...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

Probably would've carried more weight had the letter come from the Minneapolis City Council or the mayor... Well, yeah. The mayor's office has already voiced a similar opinion within the last year. The mayor has been heard, but residents need to voice their opinion. http://m.startribune.com/minneap...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

I don't know about the Olson stretch There's already exploration of a dedicated bikeway on one side of Olson in conjunction with Bottineau LRT. It's currently a very dangerous stretch for pedestrians and bicyclists. The North Minneapolis Bicycle Advocacy Council sent a letter to MNDOT this summer r...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

It's a bit of a ret-con, but I like thinking of the North Loop being an ironic name considering the neighborhood would have ripped up to build I-335, the 'north loop' of the Minneapolis downtown freeway.
It was named for a streetcar line.
