Re: North Loop Green - Hines - 350 N 5th St(?) - 40 stories / 442'
A couple of updates I really like. The sky terrace bisecting the residential tower is really interesting visually. The corner cut out on the north side really breaks up the monotony of the box shape. I think overall a really solid design. I like the solid metal addition, I hope it's good quality mat...

Re: Harlem Irving and CA Ventures - 240 Hennepin Ave - 23 stories - 256'
It seems to me that when the bank building went up, it was white - which at least referenced the Yamasaki gem at Washington and Hennepin. The current buff color does the building no favors. It fit the neighborhood better when the Jaguar dealership was across the street, but at this point it does no...

Re: Harlem Irving and CA Ventures - 240 Hennepin Ave - 23 stories - 256'
It’s too bad this project doesn’t include replacing the 21st Century Bank Building. It is a sad remnant of the worst architecture to come out of the massive urban “renewal” project of the 1960’s. Perhaps once this tower is complete, the bank building could be tackled for a scaled down companion to ...

Re: Downtown Hotel News
I've been working at the Hewing hotel now almost 3 years since it opened. We have a surprising number of tourists. At least 3/4 of our business is tourism and wedding groups... y'all weddings occupy a lot of hotel rooms in this city. We also don't really slow down that much in the winter. Granted we...

There are aspects I really like, but a lot that's disappointing, the pool on the roof looks awesome.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
Back in 2015, with a lot of spare time I made this map of surface parking lots/underutilized land.

Re: Peavey Plaza
Just finished checking it out after the ceremony. It's really wonderful, the fountains are such a statement and the presence of water is invigorating. It lacks the polish of a sparkly new park but maintains the character and history of the city and architecture. Children flailed around in the now sh...

Re: Northeast and Southeast Minneapolis - General Topics
How is there just no commercial space in either of these buildings? Especially the top proposal could easily have 2 retail spaces on each end and the bottom project though tucked in a little more could have a spot on the northern corner. That would be a cool little retail area with element and two o...

Re: Eleven (Ryan Condo Tower) - 1111 West River Parkway - 48 stories / 550'
Im wondering if the Four Seasons Hotel chain had anything to do with the limited number of condo units in the Gateway. Perhaps they were looking for a more restrictive and expensive approach to the housing component. Their name appears to be attached to the condos, which is some people's minds woul...

Their website has a few images including the cornerCould someone post a link to the latest images of the project? This project is going through so many iterations, that it’s hard to keep track of which are the latest.

If it's Willard's, I'd recommend against it, whether the food is good or not. Two people, including chef Bradley Day, formerly of the Hewing hotel are working there. The chef having been fired for sexual assault amongst other things.

I like it, it's simple but well designed with quality looking materials. I just also hope it helps do some street calming.
