Re: Downtown Riverfront - Mill Ruins Park - Waterworks

Secondly: the stairs down to the lower trail from the foot of the Stone Arch bridge have been broken all summer and chained off, but there was no signage directing visitors to use the other set of stairs (closer to the A Mill) that are not blocked off. This MPRB complaint is valid all the time, not...

Re: Downtown Riverfront - Mill Ruins Park - Waterworks

We went down on Tuesday after the kids (6yo and 3yo) were done with school. It was awesome. I also wish they'd leave it this way and take out the dam down by Ford Parkway in the process. Some late night digging around revealed the upper lock and dam is needed to maintain a water level sufficient to ...

Re: George Floyd murder and aftermath

During the Council meeting yesterday the Council was told they were back to square one and may have to place the station outside of the Precinct.
I'm struggling to find more info about this. What were the reasons given?

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Cool. Now they can finish building all those enormous bridges getting built over suburban stroads and wetlands. Every time we visit my SIL in Eden Prairie, I'm astonished at the infrastructure going in along 212.

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

The TCB article mentioned using Washington as the "Up" to Broadway's "Over" in place of Lyndale. I found that to be interesting from a geometry PoV... Yeah, I'd love to know what people are thinking, because I had a very hard time imagining how to get the train from Target Field...

The TCB article mentioned using Washington as the "Up" to Broadway's "Over" in place of Lyndale. I found that to be interesting from a geometry PoV, but don't know enough about the potential political optics of making such a choice. A station around the intersection of Washington...

Re: South Nicollet / Kingfield-Lyndale-Tangletown-Windom Neighborhoods

Seems like probably not. The units would be a mix of market-rate and affordable apartments, according to project documents. Proposed amenities in the nearly 72,000-square-foot building include a club room and fitness room off the first-floor lobby, rooftop patio and a dog washing area in the basemen...

From BizJournals (locked):

A proposed development in south Minneapolis would replace Curran’s, a neighborhood restaurant run by the same family for over seven decades, with a five-story apartment building.

Aforementioned barber shop is going into the old Bikes and Pieces location. 'Twas a great bike store and I'm glad he's planning to operate out of his home. http://www.bikesandpieces.com The owners of the Pepitos space (it'll always be Pepitos to me #oldman) said they are optimistic they'll be able t...

As a parent of a 5yo and a 2yo I can assure you most of us spent an inordinate amount of time begging our children to keep it down while simultaneously shrinking in embarrassment at some of the things said at high volume.

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

I'd be curious to see if the pushback actually is greater now than it was however long ago the original alignments were being debated/chosen. The Green Line has proven wildly successful and the combination of having both Green and Blue is starting to open eyes to the benefits of a proper rail system...

You are suggesting removing the functioning hydroelectric station that is on the National Register of Historic Places? Not necessarily, no. Just the concrete apron and other in-the-water structures. Maybe. The hydroelectric station requires the vertical water drop the damn/artificial falls provides...

Re: Downtown Riverfront - Mill Ruins Park - Waterworks

Tear out all the infrastructure in the water and let it go natural. This is just dumb. A real waterfall transitioning to rapids in the middle of the metro is 1000x more interesting than a walkway around a shitty concrete apron. You are suggesting removing the functioning hydroelectric station that ...

Re: RBC Gateway (Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 519'

Don't all the condo owners have full access to the Four Seasons amenities? So while it's a 20% decrease in hotel rooms, the increase in condos is from 22 to 36 is quite significant. Those residents will theoretically need the hotel staff year-round instead of at whatever occupancy rate a place like ...

I'm but one sparse user (it was more often when my now-wife lived in StP), but I think I've traveled the full length only a handful of times. Virtually every other trip has been between Grand and 35E.
