Re: Zoning in Minneapolis

Hey, Minneapolis has a handy new Off-Sale Liquor spacing map- http://cityoflakes.maps.arcgis.com/apps/Edit/index.html?appid=e2e7ce74b04440aea87f6549c03ae0b8 Sorry, sort of a ignorant question. So the area in the blue does NOT need the 2000 buffer? But everywhere else does. Correct? New liquor store...

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis

I assume everyone will be against giving Amazon tax breaks to build their facility as well?

http://www.startribune.com/business/300852681.html

Even though their facility will only impact 1000 MN residents....

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium in Minneapolis

I dont buy the "We already have two soccer stadiums" argument. By that logic: We shouldnt have built the Vikings Stadium because we already had TCF stadium for football We shouldnt have built Xcel because we already had Target Center for Hockey We shouldnt of built Target center because th...

Re: Pillsbury "A" Mill Redevelopment

I dont think anyone is stopping any developer from developing subsidized housing for other particular groups as long as they qualify financially (public servants, daycare workers, etc) This building I believe is being development by Dominium who does non-artist developments but here in MN we have Ar...

Re: Cedar Ave - Nokomis Area

So if someone is going to Powderhorn Park or 38th and Cedar, from 77 north, you are assuming they would take 35W. If the Nokomis Bridge as removed it would be 12miles on 35W and 13miles on 55.

Re: Cedar Ave - Nokomis Area

So here's the trade... Road users get: - a third lane on 62 in each direction between 35W and 77 - a flyover ramp from NB 77 to WB 62 - a better non-cloverleaf ramp from WB 62 to SB 77 The citizens of S MPLS get: - Cedar Ave bridge over Nokomis gone (obviously) - 77 north of 62 removed. That can me...

Re: Hennepin & Lyndale Bottleneck Project

I'd say those two left turns are used quite frequently. Access to both the Walker and the Churches depend on those left turns, not to mention all of the people that live south of Loring Park. I can maybe see that...but couldnt people taking a left to the "churches" just use Hennipen [sic]...

Re: Hennepin & Lyndale Bottleneck Project

I think the options presented are OK, but ideally this are needs to be transformed more to work better for Cars, Bikes, Buses and People. In driving this area almost everyday there are a few things that have stuck out to me that need to be considered. 1. The 394 on ramp at Dunwoody Blvd. (Should use...

Re: Farmers Market Soccer Stadium

If this were to happen, I'd want to see a pretty substantial plan for redeveloping the entire Farmers Market / West Loop / Royalston Station area, including relocation of the Farmers Market to the Yard/Armory. That said, can the soccer team really not play at any of our existing stadiums? (TCF, Vik...

Re: Plymouth Building Hotel Conversion - (12 6th Street Sout

Really excited to see this project finally get the green light. It's a disappointment that they are not going to be doing much work on the exterior of the building to restore its previous look, but a Conrad is definitely a great addition to the city. I wonder if they have any plans to do anything w...

I still think Ayd Mill Road would be a perfect spot for a streetcar line. Connecting downtown St Paul to the Green line either at Raymond Station, West Gate or Prospect Park.

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)

The park looks grand in the picture, but it'll occupy only two city blocks, so it's even smaller than Gold Medal Park by the Guthrie. Talking about Gold Medal Park, I still don't understand it. Can't they put a sculpture, a fountain or some interesting benches on it to make it look a little bit mor...

Re: Bottineau Corridor (Blue Line Extension)

I coulndt agree more, that this is as apples to apples as it gets. I always have thought the easiest solution to the SWLRT debate was to raze the row of townhouses to create room to have the LRT, freight and trail all at grade.
