Re: Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) Clinic Expansion
They must be doing some fairly intensive work to their existing building to prepare for the expansion-- a tower crane went up on the NE corner of Park & 8th yesterday. Last I heard is they are moving the helicopter landing pad to that end of the building so it is closer to the ER. Not sure if t...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Retail News
Wasn't this the number that the "consortium" was touting? The only rule I've ever heard mentioned was that 40,000 residents is the magic number for sustainable retail, but I can't recall where it came from.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
I don't know if it is related to the squirrels or the adjusting of the signal timing, but for the past several weeks, the Green Line has been very pokey through campus, often times stopping at multiple lights on Washington Avenue. Combined with occasional waits leaving Downtown East, eastbound train...

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
Looking at that last picture, you can really see how small the Commons is actually going to be (especially if they don't close any roads).

Re: The Commons - Downtown East Park
It seems like they have been pile driving on the north side of the commons all day. Anyone have any idea why? It seems to early to be starting the residential portion of the park.

Re: Nicollet Mall Reconstruction Project
The proposal I received said any amount over $150 could be spread out over 20 years (I think it was 20 years).I assume that since it's an assessment, it could be financed like other assessments are through the property taxes?

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map
Just a heads up to anyone who take pictures downtown: Dont take pictures on the property of Wells Fargo. I almost had my camera taken away because of it. They suspect that people taking pictures of their building are potential threats for bank robbery or terrorist attacks. Just an intimidation tact...

Re: 2015 Transportation Funding Proposals
I have seen this happen several times in the past. The GOP always propose cutting Metro Transit, then Metro Transit says we will need to cut service by xx%. Each time, service in the core pretty much goes untouched, and ultimately improves the next cycle. As much as I would like to see more funding ...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
Has anyone else had issues with the Green Line being on time lately? Almost every day for the past 3 weeks the trains I have been on are almost always 5-10 minutes behind schedule in both directions. I have also noticed the train stopping more often at intersections that used to have full signal pri...

Could this ramp be more for the Farmers Market? Parking is pretty tight down there on weekends.

Re: Twin Cities' National and Global Image
I grew up in Buffalo, and to this day I still hear people talking about how Lake and Hennepin is the most dangerous part of the city (therefor it must also be the most dangerous part of the state since it is in scary Minneapolis).

Re: "The Miracle of Mpls", Local Responses & Racial Disparit
Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't recall seeing anything saying that the Mall of America is pressing charges. If this is true, I find it strange that the city would go after this even though the property owners seemed to have moved on.

I do like how Seattle transit allows dogs on buses and trains if they pay a normal fair:

I wish Metro Transit would implement something like this.

Re: Mall of America - Bloomington
I was under the assumption for some reason that a demonstration like that was illegal at MOA. Correct me if I am wrong, but the protesting itself isn't illegal, but since it is private property (sorta, but that's a different topic) if you are doing something they don't approve of, they can ask you ...

Re: Holidazzle Market
Went for the 3rd time on Sunday around noon. Very busy, people buying stuff, and Nicollet Mall was packed between Peavey Plaza and 7th Street. After 7th Street it became pretty quite, and I was thinking if they could have another attraction on the north end of Nicollet Mall, the entire stretch would...
