Re: Mall of America
... plus this wasnt a couple inches it was 2 or 3 feet!!! imagine if this was a trucker going under a low bridge? Semi-trucks hit low bridges with some frequency, but you don't hear about the bridge collapsing because of it. Yes, these people in the U-Haul were idiots, but this parking ramp was poo...

Re: 1101 University Ave. SE (University Lutheran Chapel site
It'll be unfortunate to see those old trees go down on their lawn facing University.I was on campus on Tuesday and noticed that the church on this site is being demo'd. Guess they figure something will work out with it.

I'm confused. Is this a separate project from the 350 North Fifth Street thread?

Re: Vikings Stadium
TAILGATING! PUBLIC DRUNKENNESS! DRINKING AND DRIVING! There's a small part of me that wonders if it would have been better to let the culture of the NFL fester in burbs where drinking and driving is socially acceptable than to further fuel their weekend infiltration of the city. I just don't...

Here's a link to Wilf's remarks, which begin at the 35:20 mark. He describes a "big plaza experience" and says "10 to 12 acre space in front of the building". http://www.kfan.com/player/?station=KFXN-FM&program_name=podcast&program_id=KFAN_PADubay.xml&mid=22303962 TA...

Re: Mill & Main
I'm going to take this slightly off-topic, but St. Anthony Main would be the perfect place to have kind of an "artists row" like they do in Europe. Obviously Minneapolis isn't Paris, but if St. Anthony Main was developed from Hennepin Bridge to Stone Arch Bridge, can't you imagine somethi...

Re: Park Vista (2nd St S & 11th Ave S)
I think the rendering is interesting, and that the building would fit in well with what has been built around the Mill District.
At least it isn't 6 floors of sticks, right?

Re: Vikings Stadium
Interesting article today about development surrounding the site of the new stadium: http://www.startribune.com/local/minneapolis/163640936.html?page=2&c=y People have very short memories. Go back ten years and compare then with today. Downtown Minneapolis has filled in so many parking lots it'...

Re: Vikings Stadium
I think that we have to get away from the space being this or that and focus more on the surrounding area being a park devoted to all sorts of physical activities. Soccer, tennis, skate park, ice skating in the winter possibly a short CC skiing course. I know that some in the community were leaning...

You'd be sad to see Cub go, yet you primarily patronize its main competitors. Interesting.

I will miss the neon Soap Box Factory sign. I wonder if SBF has any opinions on the developments that are being built / proposed around their site.

really mplser? Doesn't it even matter a tiny bit the the whole trend for this crap is to make it as cheap and drab as possible? Screw density if this is the answer! I'm still astounded you guys all love 222. It is what it is I guess...MPLS gets trash only and we must all be trash men. Curious, do y...

Re: 1101 University Ave. SE (University Lutheran Chapel site
What is the deal with one parking spot for each unit in these core areas? I'm assuming the overwhelming majority of tenants in this building would be students or people otherwise affiliated with the U of M. What would be the need for everyone to have a car? I just don't think that the city has a par...

Re: Downtown Crime
Getting rid of the mandated bar closing time would solve most of the mess, IMO. The main problem is the exodus of everyone out of the bars all at the same time creating a near mob like rush. Letting the crowds disperse more gradually through the night would help a lot This. Wouldn't it be wonderful...
