Smaller windows actually make sense when you consider these are dorm rooms. There is a housing shortage at MCAD and if they can add beds to the dorms they can provide more housing to students.

Re: 2320 Colfax Avenue Apartments
I am a renter who also has attended LHENA meeting for many years. Yes, there are some preservationists that are obsessive. I have also seen and heard some pro development people made offensive statements at meetings. You are going to get crazies on both sides of an argument in a public setting, it t...

Re: "The Miracle of Mpls", Local Responses & Racial Disparit
Elaborate on? Priority schools? Measurement Ratings? Or why visiting a high poverty school would be an eye opener? My sister is a teacher in one of these schools. The quality of education suffers when children in poverty have issues that need addressing other than what is on the lesson plan. Often t...

Re: "The Miracle of Mpls", Local Responses & Racial Disparit

Re: Stick vs. Concrete Construction
I just wonder about the longevity of these types of buildings. I have heard there are already issues with some that are a bit older.

Re: 5 Arbitrarily Ranked Nice Neighborhoods in the Metro
I walk pretty much everywhere unless it is very bad weather. Walking a mile is really not much if you are used to it, maybe just 10-15 min depending on how fast you walk. I have noticed, at least for me, the perception of distance seems much longer on busy streets like Hennepin or Lyndale compared t...

"There is a difference in saying you wan to buy a property, and saying that the city will condemn thru eminent domain. They are two very different approaches. One is appropriate and the other is a sleaze tactic."

This does seem a bit sketchy when they said the house was gutted after the fire. "ACTUAL CONDITION (as reported by a salvage worker) The entry, all 3 parlors and the dining room were essentially the same. Wainscoting, window & door casings, cove & coffered ceilings, huge paneled pocket ...
