Re: The Capp - 46th & Hiawatha Mixed Use

Only a small handful of people showed up to oppose (traffic and parking), but those that did were C-R-A-Z-Y. Worth watching a bit of the testimony.
This comment got a chuckle out of me. I really want to check out that testimony. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

On KSTP's report about the crash between a car and the Green Line train they interviewed a 17 year old from Eden Prairie. Near the end of the televised report it was stated that the witness in their interview said he heard other witnesses tell the police that the car had the green light at the inter...

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development

Fred Melo has a bunch of good info on his twitter feed from the meeting last night. This tweet has some good specifics on timing of construction: https://twitter.com/FrederickMelo/status/885651885033652226 "Tower crane up by September. Structural steel by Thanksgiving. That's when you'll see th...

Re: Fireworks

That would be cool. We watched downtown Minneapolis fireworks from the Lake St. Bridge back when our oldest was still a baby. Not loud at all from there. Then a couple years later we found ourselves in a port-a-potty right under the Stone Arch Bridge when they started. That was too close for comfort...

Fireworks

Anyone have inside knowledge for watching fireworks in Stillwater? I have never seen them in that town, wondering if somebody has and can give me any tips. We usually go to the Minneapolis display at the Stone Arch Bridge and have seen them from many different spots, usually somewhere near the Guthr...

More on the stadium from Brian Quarstad at FiftyFive. One and interesting details on the timing of when actual construction could begin here,

Re: Fiber Internet and TV Services, Cord Cutting

Regarding the explanation that Travis has given in the past about the boulevard needed to lay fiber down and streets like Bryant not getting it because of the concrete and no grassy boulevard, how do they handle the very large trees in the boulevard. Is there a risk to the tree when the lay the fibe...

Re: Fiber Internet and TV Services, Cord Cutting

Recently read on a Nextdoor post that USI is closing in on purchasing property to serve Powderhorn and entire east side of So. Mpls. Found the Reddit post by Travis that Nextdoor person was referring to here, https://www.reddit.com/r/Minneapolis/comments/6e8n76/in_minneapolis_us_internet_appears_to_...

Re: Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements

Do the thermoplastic applications offer more traction? The paint is very slippery when wet. I avoid stepping on the paint in the winter.

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

I would like to at least see some extra paint on the road where the parking is permitted to catch the eye of drivers and slow them down, like the entire road green for that stretch. Maybe some radar speed limit signs with extra flashing lights. Stuff like that to get people to slow down where bicycl...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

The ticketing is really the main feature for the app. I agree that they could add value to the app with route favorites and next trip stop number favorites. I hope they add stuff like that in the near future. I am really hoping that the bugs were worked out with this update. It's useless if you can'...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings

MetroTransit app updated this week. No longer a minimum charge required. Back to peak and off-peak fares, instead of weekday and weekend fares. All-day weekend pass for $3.50 available, in addition to the current all-day weekday pass for $4.50. I hope it behaves reliably now. Don't want it to bug ou...

Anyone had the software update for Metro Transit app pushed to them yet? I saw that there was a major update coming at the beginning of this month, but I don't seem to have had one come through yet.

Frederick Melo and Brian Quarstad have a bet about whether Rainbow will be closed by May31. Melo said no way it's closed before end of May.

Wonder if there has been any movement with the Rainbow store.

Re: Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements

Learned this morning that a fellow transit rider on my daily commute was struck by a car on Highway 55 and roughly Eagandale Blvd in Eagan. Anyone have any suggestions on how I might be able to find out his status? I heard he was conscious and talking when the ambulance arrived, so I am hopeful that...

Pretty sure many have already read this article, http://www.citypages.com/news/minnesotas-oldest-comic-book-shop-forced-out-by-condos-in-uptown/420927384 But I really liked this line: "With the infiltration of luxury condos built in the tradition of the Chipotle school of architecture, the Comi...
