Re: Maplewood, North St Paul, & Oakdale - General Topics
I used to frequent that Taco Bell and the Wendy's next door back when I worked at the Circuit City just to the SW. Running across County Rd D sure was fun!

Re: Legacy Town Suburbs (Hopkins, Anoka, Stillwater, Shakopee, Chaska, etc.)
I would include South St Paul, even though not much remains of the original "core". The city always had a separate identity from St Paul proper. The center of the city was located at Concord and Grand. A local historian even titled her book "The City That Tore Itself Down" - ther...

Re: Saint Paul - General Topics
Here's an interesting article released by Pioneer Press. Today, there are seven market-rate apartment buildings either open or underway downtown, more than 10 new restaurants have opened their doors, and downtown office vacancy rates are the lowest they’ve been since 2001. And it’s not just downtow...

And some go in with a chapter 11, can't work anything out, and convert to a chapter 7 after a few months.

There has been off-and-on talk of light rail connecting the airport to downtown, but I'm sure it's a loooong way in the future

Does the lack of access to the freeway that's already cutting through the neighborhood inflict any issues? Other than the goofy ramps at Broadway, there really isn't an interchange until all the way to Dowling.

I'm just happy the lower bowl is an actual seating bowl, and not a suites only level like that sample section showed.

Re: Major League Soccer Stadium
I don't think it stadiums themselves per say that jump start redevelopment. It's just "Big Projects" in general. Somebody has to take that first big step and break the logjam. Stadiums work well (if done right) because it's a big, gov't backed project that throw out the usual rules of sloo...

So, 3 - 4 stories more? The real question is what's the difference in rooms?

Re: Target Field and Target Field Station Development
Correct - as the law currently stands, the Hennepin Co .15% sales tax is only for the Twins Stadium and some odds and ends, and it goes away once the stadium is paid off. Of course, the legislature could always amend that... All this gets to a real issue we have (regardless of how you feel about the...

Looks like they plan on closing the Snelling median at Spruce Tree and putting in a signal at Shields. That should help calm traffic a bit

Re: Rochester
Good to hear. I didn't know if they were smart enough to design the building to handle future floors, considering how much they did cut just to get the place built. The location is good, and a roof deck overlooking the river across the street should be nice
