Re: 2103 Wabash

Interesting, it seemed the City wanted this 2103 Wabash project, because they gave them the CUP, and yet AET says they have been working with the city for some time, so you'd think AET's concerns would have been on their mind, especially because City always likes employers (not sure if truck yards a...

Re: 2103 Wabash

I wonder how long it will be before we start hearing calls for better odor control at West Rock as more developments like this start popping up in the area. Things can get a bit... fragrant over a large surrounding area during the summer. That's why cities want to protect industrial zoning - build ...

Re: The Link at Prospect Park - 2929 University Ave SE

The majority of The Link is going to be student housing. I highly doubt professionals/families/seniors need a fully furnished 3 or 4 bedroom or want to live with a bunch of undergraduate students. There are lots of empty nesters that want out of a house, want to be in city but still want lots of ro...

Re: 2103 Wabash

I applaud their ambition. This is really heavy industrial area. Maybe the first of many residential additions in the area.
It's not that far from Monster Brewing and art galleries etc. It's turning over.

Re: 2103 Wabash

There are rumors about a big development to come at the corner of Cleveland and University near this site. I can see this whole former industrial area south of University, except for probably Westrock, turning over with all new developments, in the next 10-15 years. Probably a once in a century oppo...

Re: 2103 Wabash

Some part of this development is intended to be commerical with spaces that could be maker spaces. And these buildings sat nearly empty for decades after slaughter house left. There is a guitar store there now and there was a Dog boarding place but they've moved to better digs to the north of Univer...

Re: Oakdale -New Hadley Interchange Traffic Circles- 36

Before the interchange plans firmed up, Fleet Farm was going to build a massive mixed use urban village on the site. Dang, is that true or sarcasm - that is really missed opportunity for Oakdale if so. For the money they are spending on this, I can imagine to could have realigned streets and inters...

2103 Wabash

The agglomeration of older buildings at this site are apparently going to be developed into to some residences and commercial spaces while keeping the historic buildings - a former slaughter house. They needed a Conditional Use Permit or Zoing Variance for this use given its industrial zoning - I th...

Re: Weyerhaueser site redevelopment - 700 Emerald St

So apparently the developer Dominion was required to demo the portions of the property they sold to the City for the park land within one year of that agreement - so they are doing that demo now.

Re: 2700 University Avenue Development

Does anyone live here and can attest to the living conditions? I live over at 808 Berry, which has about 30% affordable housing units. I saw this place only does about 20% affordable housing, which is around 50 units. The 808 Berry really feels like glorified public housing. I know I sound crazy an...

Re: Prospect Park - General Topics

I wasn't sure where to post this, but has anyone else heard about the U of M transitway being moved north to the railroad yard to make room for Prospect Park development? A quick glance at Google Maps and it appears it could run alongside the tracks and go under 280 and then quickly veer over to th...

Re: Weyerhaueser site redevelopment - 700 Emerald St

Also, the plans for the Legends at Berry (the senior housing) and Milberry (family housing) have been put out to bid. It looks like the new Myrtle that is going in south of the apartment buildings and north of the new park, will be extended east through the north part of the Sunrise Banks parking lo...

Re: St. Paul Restaurant News

I haven't had the poutine but people keep saying good things about it.

Their Irish Coffee is very good.

My Californian-born and bred spouse was even impressed by the tomatillo sauce that was on side of breakfast tacos.

They also have cool old school punch bowls so groups can get alcoholic punch.

Re: 2700 University Avenue Development

So I'm liking HodgesBend restaurant. Since I live nearby, been there several times since they opened 10 days ago - best thing for the area is that it is open from early morning to late night with both high-end quality coffee and adult beverages and food and they also have some affordable options. Ca...

HodgesBend at 2700 University St. Paul (Westgate LRT right on border with Mpls, near 280/94) is now open. Since I live nearby I've several times in last 10 days they have been open. Their emphasis is on quality drinks - fromm coffee to cocktails, wine and some select beers on tap (I'm very fond of t...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

This is near my work, and while there is a whole lot of nothing along the street front, it seems the massive space used for this could have been built up over time with more traditional streets. Now all this land will be taxpayer sinkhole when there could have been development and productivity. It s...
