There are a few threads on here that I would not like to see pop up every time something new comes in. Think there is a way to hide or ignore the thread so I don't get the little orange box near the section?

Assuming you are clearing out your new notifications, the closest you can get is to click "mark topics read" at the forum level once you read all the others you care about.
