They better be ready once retail is in place. Also useful for people who are visiting the Edition, and possibly for park overflow park. It just bothers me for both large Wells Fargo locations downtown, neither have immediate access to bike racks so far.

Is there going to be on street parking on 4th? Hopefully the city will use posts with the bike lock loop for the parking space number signs.

I wish they would use these posts on all parking meters.

You are right. Both their largest branch and their newest branch downtown have little to no bike accessibility. As a customer of theirs it is really bothersome. I went to the new one today in the east tower cause I needed quarters for laundry and needed some Canuck dollars for a trip to Toronto. I brought up the fact there was no bike racks and asked them to bubble that up the food chain. The branch manager was standing not too far away and said that while construction is not complete he and his assistant were unsure about bike racks outside and was going to bring that up to his superior.

That would be so nice. Those posts really help alleviate the need of bike racks in some places and work out well.

On a different note, while I was upstairs in the skyway area where the bank branch was there are a number of giant historical pictures of downtown Minneapolis that stretch across entire walls across from the bank branch. I was in a hurry today and didn't have time to take any pictures. I will try to go sometime soon so we can all see them (I am sure they found them from the historical society). Anyway one of them was titled 1960s or something like that and the picture looked like a war zone. I was thinking this was odd because I don't know of any major disasters occurring in downtown Minneapolis and then it dawned on me that this picture was taken at the beginning of Urban Renewal.

Also one last note on my less than tent minute visit. The building still has a that new building smell. That front lobby of the east tower is very nice, not as nice as Wells Fargo Center, but I think they did a good job in there.

It's a series that stretches across the two buildings in the skwyway level. The oldest one is on the west end, with the newest on the easwt.

I've seen that one before and was trying to remember if it is actually the demolition of the Metropolitan building. This annotated image from the interwebs says yes:

(Same image, lower quality, with added annotations)

ETA: Actually, maybe it's not the same image. I think the angle is a little different. Still, depicts the same primary scene.

That picture with the Metropolitan demo makes me sick to my stomach. What were they thinking?

Maybe they got approval to demo the site, but the committee didn't feel like whatever was going to replace it would fit well in the area, so they had to scale it down.

Disagree. Salty is good.

ETA: Also, walked by again. It's the same image.

Oh my god they forgot bike racks for both buildings. But they keep the downtown aerials history going, so that's cool.

Saw on my run last night that there was a parking meter pay box on 4th. I will message CM Frey requesting the city install meter signs with the bike lock loop. Hate making the city subsidize amenities for a private business. Suppose they'll get frequent use from the park too.

The meter posts are already installed on 4th, though, at least on the ramp block. I'm not sure if the bike loop is something that can be retrofitted on, or if that would mean replacing the posts entirely.

Was that unclear from the previous two posts?

No, because these were just installed last night.

Thanks for the update,

I wish everyone else would slow down and read all the posts sometimes so they don't double post though. Just saying..

I went by the new stadium and so many people were talking about it on the train, they were talking about them having to redo the roof and how wells fargo sneaked into the stadium area with the logo photo bombing. Pretty surprised how informed people are with everything happening in the area.

Well since the appropriate thread got shut down due to a little bitchfest that broke out, I think this is might be the best place to put it:

http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/p ... polis.html

Maybe this isn't dead after all? Lol, if only we weren't so cheap on this board and actually subscribed to the papers we rely on, myself included.

Did the Business Journal change their paywall? I swear I never used to pass the threshold for free stories, but lately I am never under it.

I think they did update their paywall, but they've also always held back a certain number of choice stories for subscribers only. This appears to be one of those stories.

“We are evaluating a couple of different concepts and … our intention is to tighten down on a plan in about 60 days. We’ll be submitting a plan to the city at about that time.”
That's really the only bit of news in there. They've also extended their agreement.
