Looking at a 65 degree forecast this week, I'm excited to use these in fall! They also are building one in front of spyhouse today

There's a completed one near W Broadway and Emerson in North as well. I hope we see a lot more of these!

It's proposed! Steelcase planned to be approved. This is the shipping container office that was discussed earlier.

Isn't this like the third iteration of this proposal now?

There's already a thread for it somewhere. It might still be titled "The Bickford."

That might have been why I didn't find it. This is a lot more detailed of plans than last time, which is promising

The walking tour? I might but people should really go on the Explore North Loop event, it's $15 but all of the money goes towards greening the neighborhood! It's October 11th 2-6pm

No, this was the first community planning meeting for the N 6th Ave repaving/ rebuilding. Pedestrian improvements, along with restoration/ replacement of the pavers on the road.

As for the walking tour, seems cool, but I live in the hood. Seems pretty cool though.

That stretch of road does need some major rehab work. Glad to hear that the pavers are still in the picture for use when rehabbing.

Yeah, pretty cool stuff. There was some talk of doing 5th ave after. It's rough, but not as pedestrian unfriendly.

I will upload some pictures of the presentation boards they had in the room. The plan is to have at least 6 foot wide sidewalks on both sides of streets, parallel parking, trees, and street lighting.

Oh man I so hope they restore all the pavers in North Loop. That would just be delightfully charming. I'd love to live here once I graduate.

I see that Askov Finlayson is moving and expanding next door at 204 N. 1st. Street in the old Hennepin Hotel. It is supposed to double their current square footage. A new cafe will go into their old space.

On the HPC agenda, the owner of the New French Cafe building would like to demolish the shed attached to the rear loading dock of the building: http://minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/pub ... 133681.pdf

I was not aware of this:
In 2008, the property owner applied for a Certificate of Appropriateness
to demolish the entire building, including the loading dock shed. The Heritage Preservation
Commission’s decision to deny the application was appealed by the applicant, and the City Council
upheld the HPC decision and denied the appeal. There have been no land use or heritage preservation
commission applications submitted since that time, and the building has also been vacant since that time.
Anyone know why they wanted to demo the building? Were there plans for replacement or were they simply looking to tear it down to lower their property taxes & maintenance costs?

4-story Lock-Up Self Storage facility proposed for 7th St N & 7th Ave N, replacing vacant industrial buildings: http://minneapolismn.gov/www/groups/pub ... 134439.pdf

Seems like a reasonable use of the land, but I'm surprised Metro Transit didn't snap this property up. They own nearly everything in that far corner of the North Loop.
